A much more comprehensive review. Appreciate the two distance tests. Questions: 1)_What if the remote gets lost or broken while on the road, is there a way to disarm the alarm? 2)_Can you arm/activate the alarm without it sounding. 3)_Can you buy a backup remote? Thanks for sharing. Great review. Planning on buying a reverse trike hopefully soon. New on your channel. New subscriber. God bless.

My guess for most of these is "no, no, no, and no." only because it's so cheap that the company would either not respond to your requests or just send you another one. That would be my recommendation, too, unfortunately! You get what you pay for.
@lazurm2 жыл бұрын
Remiong Cecilio: Ben Durham erred in his "guess" answer. These are the correct, researched answers to your questions: 1) The only way to disarm the alarm, without destroying it, if the remote gets lost or broken is to either have programed another remote or disconnect the internal batteries inside the unit by unscrewing the battery compartment. 2) The arm/activate function requires a sound and can not eliminate this sound. 3) The only way, currently, to buy a backup remote is to buy another unit, only $17 at the time of this reply, cheap enough, and program the remote that comes with each alarm to function for the alarm you wish it to function for.

These are alarms. They are not a substitute for a lock. If you are in earshot they are great. I've twice been wokekken by a siliars thing. The noise scares people off, usually. I once found someone had removed my front hydraulic brake, along with handlebar and stem, while chained outside my home. Now any tampering will wake me. My neighbours probably aren't so grateful, but twice in a year's not bad.

I use mine in a scooter that has a headlight housing on the handlebars. I mounted the unit inside the headlight housing under the speedometer. It's hard to get to. They would have to take apart the front body panel to remove the headlight housing unless they just smashed it to pieces which I don't think they will do if the bike is parked in a public place with cameras on it. It's armed After I lock the handlebar lock and attach a disk rotor lock with it's own alarm. Two alarms and two locks. I plan to add a heavy chain and lock with alarm they can't cut with bolt cutters and a GPS. 3 locks, 3 alarms and a GPS.

I'd say the main purpose of the alarm is to protect your locks 😜 If you spend hundreds of dollars on chains, D-locks, trackers etc. it would be costly to replace them every time someone tries to steal your stuff. So letting the thief know 'the bike owner is coming, you better run before he comes or calls the cops' you have a better chance the thief will not damage your other, more expensive defenses.

I bought one for my motorcycle. It’s OK, but not loud enough. For a bicycle ir is loud because it’s position out in the open, but on a bike if you hide it somewhere it tends to muffle the sound. Also, when adjusting sensitivity, it’s really hard to tell which level you are at. One would think that the beep would get louder (or the other way around) as sensitivity increased, but mine can be lousy, then it goes down, and up again, and I am only in 4-5 beeps. There are suppose to be 7. I changed the sensitivity and I have never been able to get it back to the most sensitive setting. Pretty lousy! But hey, for 16 bucks what can you expect, uh? So I can be sure which house the machine is in? I don't want to turn on the sensitivity option.
@ceejayjames98652 жыл бұрын
The reason I don't want the sensitivity option is that I don't want the culprit to know the device is in the machine because the machines are miles away from me. I realise that the tracking devices on the machines doesn't give the exact location. The tracker will let you know it is in this circle right here but that circle might have 2 houses. You can layer your deterrents as much as you can afford, it's still not gonna help if someone really wants to take the bike. Although Good to have, some is better than none and More is better than some, we really need better solutions. The thief needs to know the alarm is in a place he could never get to, with a GPS that actually calls the cops in real time with tracking data for the cops. Even that may not be fool proof but No One makes such a unit and The Cops are part of the problem because they don't want to pay for a department to do just that. Most cops rely on federal funding.. if federal money isn't in it, they aren't interested. Hi.. does this alarm goes off on it's own after lets say 20 sec or so ? It's important to me because.. I need it to stop if someone moves my bike by accident on a bike parking and Im not there personally to shut it off.
@BenDurham2 жыл бұрын
The first bump results in a quick warning beep. The 2nd bump makes the alarm sound for around 45 seconds, then it resets. So if you hit it again, it would do a warning beep then the 45 second alarm... and repeat forever.

No it is not because knowone takes any notice & if they did they would not get involved!. Watch other videos on here I have seen people watch in a crowd as a bike is being stolen!

I bought it ! IT IS A TRASH. Almost unable to get to the battery to replace it. Super bad design.

@@ArthurKlisiewicz wait "almost"? Because almost implies you were able to get a replacement battery. I didn't hide anything in this review 😅 What else is trash about it? Seems to do the job for cheap.

Don't worry, this was done a long time ago for 20 or so minutes + 20min a bit later that day. No one remembers the time that a random guy was testing an alarm 😂 They do, however, remember all of the constant traffic noise brought on by a car centric city 😬

None of this matters ): some people keep stealing bikes in the neighborhood even if you replace the bike the next day it's stolen and even if you catch them with this or track where they go they're just going to be sent to jail for a day and then come back ):
@BenDurham2 жыл бұрын
Ouch. That's unfortunate. In those cases, I'd be bringing my bike in, for sure.

@@BenDurham yeah that's what my uncle has been doing, but recently he left his bike outside for a few seconds to fix something on it and then it was stolen again sadly

In cases like this ALWAYS bring your bicycle inside. Or, in worst case scenario, use Hexlox for all components, two alarms AND the Skunklock which will definitely stop the thief, no matter what tools they used.
@BenDurham2 жыл бұрын
@@lazurm yep, these alarms are more for when you are locking up at stores or for doing errands, etc. Having an alarm on your bike when it's near your home is key, too, though! Because you'll hear that something's up and can scare them away. We also have inexpensive ebike insurance (about $40/yr per bike).
@lazurm2 жыл бұрын
@@BenDurham Regarding the "insurance", at $40/year it won't cover much, yes? I have an "ebike" that retails for $7,000. I sincerely doubt that it'd be covered for $40/yr. More like $40/month.

It's not loud enough to me. Needs to be like close to a police or ambulance siren
@BenDurham3 жыл бұрын
oh it's loud! Not sure if it sounded as loud because I needed to adjust it for audio levels (so it wouldn't make people's ears bleed while watching the video) but it's REALLY loud. My neighbours asked what was happening throughout the time I was filming this haha!

What keeps a person from just clipping the the alarm off with a Nail clipper or other, and tossing it into the bushes before attempting to steal a bike. Bike thieves are sophisticated. They know what these things look like This seems like a waste of time and money.
@BenDurham2 жыл бұрын
It depends on where you put it but you can hide it inside a case like a lot of commenters have done. But otherwise, it's for the more sophisticated thieves. There are a lot of opportunists that would be scared away by this... And it would at least draw attention to them which a lot of thieves don't want.
@bbnCRLB2 жыл бұрын
Just bring your bike into your house at night.
@BenDurham2 жыл бұрын
Some* people can't do that though? We just use our garage. But these alarms are more for errand runs and parking at different places, imo.
