I have put 10,000 miles on these rims on and off-road and love them. I would highly recommend them
@acomputernerd2 жыл бұрын
I bought these because of the reasonable price, Availability, street legal, and weight. They are harder to clean after wheeling and I am expecting the nuts to rust in salt season. I also had a time finding an installer. The local shops would not because of all the extra holes. Off road shops would only install if you bought it from them. Finally got them installed at Walmart but had to give them the tools to do it as they didn’t have the socket or torque wrench that would go that low. I prepped the 12 bolts with gasket lube and anti sieze as instructed. I am very happy with them so far and expect many years of use out of them.

Interesting to hear your experience trying to get them installed.

I spoke to ICON at EJS, they confirmed the surface rust issue was resolved (only affected tops of the bolts), the new pins won't rust.
@acomputernerd2 жыл бұрын
After their first weekend of real wheeling they held up nicely. They are not afraid to rash though and only one had rock in the sidewall. Just be aware of that as well. I would easily buy them again.

Received replacement bolts a while back, they seem to be made of a different material. Looking forward to swapping out the ones that are rusting due to PA salt.

Hi Don, I'm doing some mods on my new Jeep and the workshop has highly recommended these wheels. Have you had any ongoing issues with them or have they truly been "set and forget" for you?
@donmontalvo1 Жыл бұрын
@@FourLowAdventures never had a problem. Well, except that the East Coast salt caused some surface rust on the pins. Easily removed.

Thanks for this Casey, I do wonder how they would fair in the North though... Like many other things there is not the extremes down south like we get up here. One concern would be the temperature and the o-rings, -40 to +40 takes a toll on rubber like that. They still do look great though !!

Just curious, but is there a reason I never see the inner bead mechanically locked?
@Casey25010 ай бұрын
Generally its much less likely to push an inside bead off as it can have a higher lip as the tire doesnt need to be installed over it, but also things that unseat the bead tend to be coming from the outside of the tire (think rocks, logs etc)
@IM-cs5ou2 жыл бұрын
good design but IMO not for rock crawling without a rash ring. the wheel edge is a weak point, even when picking good lines the wheel edge can get damaged. why no machined option?

Color choice is Lacking - Only 3, Titanium, Bronze, Black. Also Not an option for a 17x9.. Looked at these for a while but because of those factors I chose Regular Beadlocks. If they could make these with a Beadlock LookAlike Ring, that might be cool. I passed on these.

What's this good for if there's no bead lock on the rear of the rim?
@5ohJ2 жыл бұрын
If you were going to roll a bead it’s going to be on the outside of the room not the inside
@KTMcaptain2 жыл бұрын
Very difficult to pop the inside bead off, most beadlocks are built this way. Hutchinson is the big manufacturer that is dual locked but you have a much heavier wheel due to the rubber inner liner.

PEOPLE OF CA. BEAD LOCK IS NOT LEGAL IN CA??? IF CAUGHT IMPOUND OF TRUCK OR JEEP, OR? FOR 30 DAYS AND RETURN TRUCK WITHOUT THE RIMS?
@beatenpath4x4fabrication712 жыл бұрын
Technically, Beadlocks aren't DOT compliant. DOT doesn't exist in CA. It's MOT in CA.
@ChasingDreamsLivingLife2 жыл бұрын
You better go arrest the 1000's of vehicles in CA running Beadlocks. Actually know a few people that have been pulled over, the beadlock was never questioned. But to each their own.

@KTMcaptain2 жыл бұрын
For standard configuration they are, same as the Mopar ones. When you mount to the actual beadlock it’s not dot compliant.
@beadblaster95082 жыл бұрын
@@KTMcaptain they are if your state allows 2 piece rims because they are dot approved in either configuration,beadlock or standard. A lot of states do not allow 2 piece rims and in those states they are not approved.

@@beadblaster9508 Federal regulations bud not state.
@beadblaster95082 жыл бұрын
From aev website @@KTMcaptain The Crestone wheel with the Beadlock Ring installed is DOT compliant but that does not necessarily mean it is legal for street use in every U.S. state. Check state and local restrictions on beadlock installation and use BEFORE ordering. Beadlock wheels must be properly installed and require routine maintenance. As a general policy, AEV recommends that beadlock wheels are used for off-road purposes only.
@KTMcaptain2 жыл бұрын
@@beadblaster9508 their website says the DOT compliance is not related to beadlock ring and is suggested for off road use only. They also speak about the extra maintenance required and risk of driving in that configuration. If a single fastener losses torque spec then it is definitely not DOT compliant, which AEV states is a common occurrence using the beadlock ring. . So then all beadlock wheels are fine so long as they meet the standard wheel strength testing and maintenance. . “AEV wheels are designed to all applicable DOT Standards regarding wheel construction and have passed the SAE Tests for Radial Fatigue, Impact, and Cornering Fatigue. Currently, DOT or SAE has no specific regulation or test requirements for beadlock wheels.”
