Nixon makes me so sad. He used to be an example of an awful president, but I would vote for him in a heartbeat if it was him or Trump.

I would too. But never forget it was Nixon, and even moreso Reagan, that paved the road to z45. Without Nixon, it's likely Carter would have had a second term and without Reagan, we would likely still have The New Deal that created the strongest economy and largest middle class the world had ever seen. Instead, the American Dream is dead.

He was my Commander-in-Chief 52 years ago and I feel exactly the same way, even though at the time I proudly voted absentee from a duty station overseas for George McGovern. Even before Watergate, I knew he was shifty-eyed SOB - albeit a competent President and occasionally effective statesman. Just the war criminal part he shared with Kissinger was a definite red flag.

Nixon is the same as Trump, he just has the ability to better hide his terrible nature

Gotta disagree with you on that one. Apart from the terrible manners, the likely advanced senility, the shady business practices & charges of sexual assault and highly possible collusion with foreign power, both employed fascists to do their bidding. But otoh, trump never had any troubles for taped… no wait, he did that too

@@marshallmkerr He also made secret deals to prolong the Vietnam War because he didn't want LBJ to be able to take credit for ending it before the election.

I'll never understand why anyone doesn't immediately like a video unless they're unfamiliar with the channel or they actively dislike the channel. It obviously means so much to a creator or they wouldn't talk about it all the time. Just click the button, people.

Nixon really does symbolize the transition period from the New Deal era to the Neo-liberal Era, probably the reason why he's so studied. He wasn't good, but he also represents the last Liberal Republican President at the same time.
