Fun fact: the MI6 building really IS the MI6 building. A few years ago a dissident republican group fired an RPG at it. Nobody noticed until the next day when a cleaner discovered a mildly broken window. They build that thing to take some shit!

M’s real name is Olivia Mansfield. The name Em is usually a short hand of Emma, so Kincaid thought Bond called M “Em” Her name is stated on the box of the porcelain bulldog at the end of the film that Eve presents to Bond. Mansfield is callback to Casino Royale when Bond said he thought M was a randomly assigned title he didn’t know it actually stood for Mansfield. And it applies with Mallory (M).

@Syntell Your boy was wrong. All 5 films are connected. They aren't "its own thing". The reason why the organization from CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE was called Quantum was due to them not having the rights to use the name Spectre back then. You'll see how all 5 films is one big story.

Silva is the most Fleming villain Fleming didn't create. He is right out of the original Fleming books, I think he would have loved this villain.

@@andrewroberts299I've read the original books and he's a Fleming villain, the most Fleming of the villains made specifically for the movies
@andrewroberts2994 ай бұрын
@@dnadna9317 I’ve read the original novels too, and it’s my opinion that Silva isn’t a great Bond villain. You think otherwise, and that’s cool. The only thing, IMO, that Fleming could have written was Silva’s facial deformity, as dear old Ian loved giving his Bond villains and his Bond girls some kind of physical deformity which would affect those characters in their relationship with Bond. With the exception of Casino Royale, the remaining four movies of Craig’s tenure are, IMO, a cinematic mess. The Bond producers have their writers come up with what they think are Fleming type plots, but the majority of them are very hum-drum (QoS dealing with water, Skyfall dealing with villain’s revenge on M/MI6 - done before and better in GoldenEye - another villain’s personal vendetta against Bond - see GoldenEye again, etc. etc.) QoS was a rushed production and it shows. It’s just another Bourne rip off with a dull, uninteresting plot/story and for the first time in Bond cinematic history, 007 doesn’t even get to sleep with the main Bond girl! Greene is one of the weakest villains in the whole roster of Bond foes, and the audience are cheated in not seeing Bond dispatch Greene in a Bond/villain showdown, instead we learn later of Greene’s death as a one line after thought! The action sequences in QoS are poor and unimaginative, the editing atrocious and throughout the film Bond goes around like this one man killing machine, shooting and killing first without asking questions beforehand which could help him during his mission. Wasn’t the rookie Bond of CR meant to have become the fully fledged, more thoughtful Bond by the end of the film, learning from his mistakes in that assignment? Clearly not. Skyfall is generally regarded as Craig’s best Bond film, and I would say it’s my 2nd favourite after CR (though its competition of QoS and the two films after it puts it there by default.) My biggest three problems with Skyfall are the main villain and his mission to get back at M/MI6 and Bond working with the main Bond girl throughout the film and not knowing her name, revealing said Bond girl at the end of the film to be M’s future secretary, Miss Moneypenny (since when was Moneypenny ever a field agent, then gives it all up to become a secretary?!?!?!) My third and biggest problem in this film is the handling of Bond’s past. I liked the little nods to Bond’s parents, though why would their graves be miles away from the house? Bond never came from wealth in the novels, and he certainly never owned or was bequeathed a stately home in Scotland?!?!?! Personally, I think it would have been better had Skyfall the house been the orphanage that Bond went to after his parents death, but hey, maybe that’s just me. I can’t comment on Craig’s last two Bond films, as the boys haven’t watched them yet, but for me they tie with QoS as being the three worst Bond films in the series history. In fact, all three are interchangeable as to whether they finish 23rd, 24th or 25th in the list.

This is not a stand-alone story. All the Daniel Craig Bond movies are tied together in a story arc. You'll have to watch all five to see how they are connected to each other.

As a Brit, we’re almost conditioned from a young age to view Bond as the epitome of cool in film representation form. I’m 51 and have grown up watching Roger Moore through to Daniel Craig(obviously seeing the Sean Connery ones too) and have witnessed the franchise move with the times. I actually think Daniel Craig’s fims have been terrific. I really enjoyed seeing you guys react the way you have. Would just like to know, how do you (as Americans) see, and rate Bond films in relation to other similar US character representations? ✌🏼🇬🇧

Skyfall is my favorite of the Daniel Craig James Bond movies and is one of my favorite James Bond movies overall. Skyfall was nominated for five Academy awards, winning two of them and yes it came out on the 50th anniversary of the James Bond movies this is why we got plenty of references in Easter eggs from previous James Bond movies along with the return of Moneypenny and q. Skyfall is not a standalone James Bond movie, the Daniel Craig James Bond movies are all connected as you will find out in the next two James Bond movies.
