There isn't a single bad Mission: Impossible movie if you ask me. They're all good in different ways at different times. This one in particular was my favorite. Thanks for reviewing this one!
@leok7193Ай бұрын
I think the last one was pretty bad. The plot felt like a flimsy device to string together action sequences, and even action felt drawn out rather than suspenseful (airport running around and train cars coming off one by one by one by one... come to mind). Even the humor fell flat a lot for me, like that little yellow car felt like it would make more sense in a Dumb and Dumber movie, especially immediately crashing into a wall, or Benji navigating as though he had no concept of vertical distance to the train. These elite spies were extremely competent years if not decades ago, and somehow regressed to bumbling idiots.

@@leok7193 Mission: Impossible - Fallout was great but yes, the last one about AI...Jonathan Nolan showed this AI theme much better back in 2011 with Person of Interest

Agree, the worst one to me is the 2nd but that is just stylistically I didn't care for it [Though I love other Woo movies, even Hard Target (a closet fave) with Van Damme] - the 2nd is still a good movie with some great casting and amazing stunts [Tom free climbing (with a safety line painted out) in the opening]
@definitelydelishАй бұрын
@@Str52849 Person of Interest was/is great [Need to rewatch it one day], sadly I think Dead Reckoning suffered from it not being its own whole story, and being broken in two parts. Though it's no longer a PART ONE, as they have renamed the final. If watched consecutively with Final Reckoning perhaps it would feel more complete. The change that the MI series undergoes during the 3rd movie really set a great thematic change that remains throughout, going forward. Oh, there is a great breakdown on KZbin about the 1st movie, and how it truly stands out and still holds up due to the directorial choices and cinematography decisions that's worth watching.

You tell the differents styles of each film by the director. Brian De Palma, MI2 was a John Woo vehicle, JJ Abrams with MI3 and Brad Bird added a little bit of the humour into it the way he did with the first Incredibles. I remember hearing that news when protocal was announced because it very unusal for Pixar director to switch from Disney to live-action with another studio. But it worked great. But just look at the laika director switching from like Box Troll, etc, to Bumblebee. Another great transition.

M:I-4 came out near Christmas 2011. Major upgrade for the franchise. One of my favorite sequels. Saw it in IMAX, 5 days before it's initial release. Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratoutoulle, The Iron Giant) did amazingly well with his first live-action film. From part 4 onward, they utilize IMAX technology for core visual scenes in these sequels. This one definitely proved that Cruise is one of the best actors to ever do action period. The cast (IMF, villains) was great. Jeremy Renner was super busy between M-I, the MCU and the Bourne franchise. Not too many 4th installments are this good. From here on out, the missions stay fully connected, thanks to J.J. Abrams as producer. RIP to Michael Nyqvist (Hendricks/Cobalt) and Tom Wilkinson, uncredited (the IMF Secretary).
