Worth it, absolutely lives up to the hype. Probably the most beautiful park in Europe. I have travelled all over Europe but Croatia is the #1 spot. Pro tip; visit this park in August/September, that way you dont have so many tourists. Also, if you are poor and without class (not saying that people with money have class), this is not the place for you.

Unfortunately, it will be completely over crowded and in our opinion it "ruins" the experience. I know that the tours and buses are mostly between 10-3 but it's still a hassle rushing everything before the crowds. Depending on the closing times I'd recommend going around 3/4 and staying as the crowds dwindle.

I became interested in Plitvice while reading about the war. One of the more interesting episodes early on involved a group of Croatian Serbs taking over the park. Eventually Croatian police evicted them, but both a Croatian Policeman and a Croatian Serb youth died in the conflict, marking what many consider to be the first casualties of the war. This disrupted tourism in Croatia for a few years (some Italian tourists got caught up in the mix and thankfully made it out, mostly unaware of what the hell was happening). And since tourism was a huge part of their economy, it crippled their ability to effectively keep up with their neighbors as everybody ramped up for the coming conflicts. This weird Malheur Nature Preserve Takeover thing was actually a pivotal moment in not only Croatia's history, but in the subsequent dissolution of Yugoslavia. Anyway, nice review. Beautiful park. I can see why they took it.

Hi guys we visited Plitvice 2nd October and it was price drop weekend so we paid 20 pounds for two tickets which I think is a great price. 70 we think is too much to be honest. We got to entrance two at 8am and it was fairly quiet until around 11 when all the tours arrived. We did route H which was a 4-6 hour walk and by the time we reached the tall waterfall at 2.30 ish the crowds were too much so we headed back to our campsite. Overall we enjoyed our day in the park but more so with the discounted tickets we purchased. Loved the video guys and happy travels.

@clisaa6974 Жыл бұрын
^ I love your vids! So, idk if you remember but when you did Route C was it mostly walking down steps? And, if there was any steps going up on the route( besides the optional cave steps lol) were they difficult? I'm traveling with my parents who are a bit older and one who's knee acts up so i was just wondering. At 6:07 it seems like the longest steps up but not steep. Also, IF you remember( because i know its hard to remember everything from a trip) was it a long time between the entrance and the boat ride, and then after the boat ride was it a long time to the snack area. I worry about needing a bathroom hahaha, but i guess i can just skip drinking alot of water that day.
@OurWildHorizons Жыл бұрын
The majority of it is flat with a few stair detours which you don't have to take. Plus you can save the boat ride and bus ticket to use when you're most tired. We took the bus back nearly the length of the park. Lots of stopping points and toilets in between though so I think everyone would be ok!

You can walk as much as you want. We walked 21 km because we walked through the forest and entered though an unofficial place.
