Thank you! You can actually take a highway bus from Tokyo all the way to Kamikochi. If you take a train, you should first go to Matsumoto station in Nagano and then take a local train to Shinshimashima station which is the closest station to Kamikochi I believe. But you still need to get a local bus to get to Kamikochi after Shinshimashima station.

is there anything similar to kamikochi - mountais, water, nature - down in kansai area? it seems a bit difficult to reach from kyoto
