I think Any style/ combo of tiles as long as it's installed properly and to a good standard looks awesome
@jw17312 жыл бұрын
I think so too. I always thought Anything in any design if done meticulously and looks like it was done on purpose and not an afterthought will look good. Most bad projects out there look that way not because of style because they look like the installer’s heart wasn’t in it.
@B11video2 жыл бұрын
Rather than using tile as your spacer, use wood or something soft. Tile can easily chip the edges when you remove the tile spacer. Ask me how I know this .
@danbartstow98292 жыл бұрын
Yeah and he’s sliding a piece of tile over the glass to flatten it and the metal trowel.Use a rubber float, and use float strips to hold the tile up till they dry not pieces of tile. Chip chip chip

Exactly, we usually allow 1/8 space when use tiles as our temporary border spacer, use 16th spacer on top and bottom , learned this the hard way

That was awful risky sticking those 4 inches spaces in there directly on top of and underneath the other tiles with out using spacers. You could have easily chipped the installed tile while pulling out the 4" pieces. That would have sucked bad.

A better method is to cement the glass to the Kirdy board first, in full length pieces, then cement the entire assembly to the wall. Gives much better control over depth and flatness.
@AllBayEveryDay2 жыл бұрын
Yep! Just measure the length and cut it out the night before. Glue it to the Kerdi board and the next day you can glue entire sections in. Makes it easier and faster

If the glass was straight on the edges that works ok, but because this glass is in and out, imo not something I would do...where do you end and stop glass on the Kerri and what if they don't fit back in perfectly...its like doing a plank floor and leaving out interlocking pieces, they never go back perfectly, either in grid or height...

Sweet work and video!!! Too many questions... I know :( When you were installing the 1/4 round around the niche I was like 'what is the metal track looking stuff on the back of 1/4 round'? At the end you called in 'peerless round edge"... so is that material painted aluminum? Looked just like the tile to me. Do you caulk or grout between tub/tile and do you caulk or grout corners? When you were installing your first section of "stripe" it looked to me like you installed a board or something to build the glass tile out...did you? Later you used that screed which was awesome.
@LandbergTileTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes, aluminum Schluter Rondec, we always caulk where the tub meets and usually caulk the sides. We build out the stripe usually with 1/4 inch board or Schluter Ditra
