Is This the Bass that Breaks My 5-Weight Fly Rod ?
Capt. Ken once again demonstrates the effectiveness of the pattern of using a fly rod and a small DragonFly to target bigger bass that have moved out to deeper water to hang out during the summer heat in central Florida. Along the edge of the deepwater vegetation is the “place” to try your “technique” at the right “time”. Since the water is so warm, the feeding periods get shorter windows of opportunity. So, it pays to be sure of your “place” and technique. Here the technique was the smaller DragonFly fished slow and quiet in the surface film near their “place”. This “dragonfly finesse” technique will get them in the right “place” if you make your presentation at the right time. Looks like Capt. Ken was in the right “place” and used the right “technique” and he was there at the right “time”, even with the shorter time window. Once again, the Time-Place-Technique Formula = SUCCESS !
