This was my third baitcaster after abu Garcia black Mac and max x and I honestly love it. Keep brakes about 6

Beginner reel? Ive been using baitcasters since i was 10 and this is a great reel for the price for anyone.

Just got one because it matched the diawa airs x rod so good and the combo was under 120 bucks. I have fished with cheaper lews reel and it still works fine after a few years use and hundreds of fish caught. You don't always need super special gear to get em!

I keep the brakes on 3 and use my thumb; with heavier weights, a little bit higher...

I just bought this reel and put it on a 6’6 Berkeley lighting rod. Is that a decent setup to learn on? My goal is to have a setup that’s pretty universal as far as different lures I can use

7 foot med heavy is good for bass the reel is good as a 7 gear ratio is quite versatile

In my mind right now Lew’s is the third best brand for baitcaster on the market right now they are just barely edging out Abu Garcia.

In spinning I give it to shimano. In low profile baitcaster it’s really a toss up.

I like your videos,don't get me wrong but your view on cheap reels is bs..I have Shimanos,Abu,etc and I'll put my $36 Kastking Valiant Eagle up against any $150-250 reel

Idk...I’ve seen those shimano slx combos go on sale for near $100. What rod would you reco to pair with this reel?

@@JCDropshot Probably around the reel price to make a $120ish combo. But would that be any better than the Shimano SLX Casting Combo for $130 or even the Shimano Caius Combo currently on sale for $110 at Dick's?

I have land some some pick over 10lbs on this rod🤷‍♂️. If you know how to play fish you would be amazed on how big of a fish you can catch on the modern gear we have these days

So disappointed with monster bass!! JC, i ordered monster bass just to get your jig!!! And I didn't recieve it like you said it would be I this months box. Insteadi got a lifted for ball jig. SO DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!

I bought 3 of these because Academy Sports was out of Abu Garcia Pro Max reels. I should have waited. I hate these Lews reels. Spend the extra $10 and get the ProMax reels. The Lews Classic Pro does not like square bill crankbaits or jerkbaits or any lure less than 3/8 ounce. They tend to bunch the line to one side of the spool and they suck for accurate casts. Trying to get a long cast only results in a backlash every single cast. I will never buy another Lews product again. I will stick with Daiwa rods paired with Abu Garcia reels.

I have one and very rarely get a backlash. If you know how to setup a reel, it shouldn't be a problem. I also fish with crank baits all the time and the Lew's works just as well as my 100 plus diawa and abu Garcia reels. Seems to me you need to learn to cast and not blame the reel when the problem lays elsewhere.

Piscifun torrent and carbon xcs blows both those reels out the water. Dumped Abu garcia years ago
