In this video, I take you to my girlfriend's favorite spot in District 5, Saigon, Vietnam, to try some of the best bánh canh cua (Vietnamese crab noodle soup) in the city. This place is super popular, and for good reason! The crab noodle soup is incredibly flavorful and filling, with a rich broth made from crab, pork, and shrimp. The noodles are perfectly cooked, and the crab is fresh and sweet. If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Vietnamese meal, be sure to check out this spot!
The exact location of the restaurant is:
Bánh Canh Cua 14 ️
221 Đ. Trần Bình Trọng, Phường 3, Quận 5, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh
Banh canh cua is a Vietnamese noodle soup made with thick, chewy noodles made of rice and tapioca flour. The cake-like noodles are drowning in a delicious, savory yellow broth and topped with various items such as:
-crab
-fish cake
-crab cake
-shrimp
-mushrooms
-green onions
-Vietnamese doughnuts
-and more!
We eat this noodle soup and give you a signature Dank Rank Food Review.
Any foodies traveling to or living in Viet Nam should definitely try some bánh canh cua!
Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed the video.

@@BigTimeBentley Yes. 😇 In general, I like "mi" better than "hu tieu" ...so I will always order mi instead of hu tieu; and I prefer the "dry" nam vang version vs. the "soup" version. 😋😋😋 "Nam vang" refers to "Cambodian style" noodle soup. 🍜 😋😋😋

Maybe you just didn't know that's the name of the soup, i.e. hu tieu Nam Vang (Phnom Penh style noodle soup), hu tieu My Tho, hu tieu Sate (Chinese style), hu tieu nguoi Hoa (Chinese style noodle soup), etc...[Vietnamese calls Chinese people who live in Vietnam "nguoi Hoa"]. 😇😇😇

BTW, banh canh cua was believed to have come from the Mekong Delta. The udon-style noodles are probably a Japanese-influence, though. The quay (fried dough/breadstick) is of Chinese origin. I've seen places serve banh canh without quay and I'm like, "Banh canh isn't complete without quay!" Gotta be able to dip the quay in the broth! That's how I grew up eating it, but when I mention how quay is eaten with banh canh or chao, other Viets tell me that's Chinese-style...um, okay, as I born and spent my younger years in Laos in a Vietnamese community and that's how we ate it.

Bánh canh cua originated in Huế. Bánh canh giò heo originated in Mekong Delta. The former is thick while the latter is just like other kinds of soup.

I'd rank banh canh cua up there, too, but I'd have asked for extra quay (whole one, not one that's cut up as I like to hold mine and dunk it whilst I eat). Where do you rank bun rieu or bun bo Hue then?
@BigTimeBentley
@BigTimeBentley Жыл бұрын
Nice maybe next time I'll ask for a whole piece. I'm not sure exactly where I'd rank bun rieu or bun bo hue overall, but id give the slight edge to bun bo hue in a head to head matchup bun bo vs bun rieu

How long does it take to go from one district to another?
@BigTimeBentley
@BigTimeBentley Жыл бұрын
Short answer: it can a long time or not too long at all it depends on the district and how big it is, which district you are trying to get to, etc. District 4 is quite small in terms of land area, so getting from district 4 to either district 7 or district 1 is a relatively short drive. But if you're in the southeastern most edge of district 7, it can be a pretty long drive to just get to district 4 or district 8. Kind of a tough question to answer, but I hope this helped
