Two years later this motor is going strong kzbin.infoUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite

Still all good! The only problem I had was that it recently turned too far in spot lock and broke my transducer wire.

Seems to me that, with the absolutely OBSCENE prices on TM's these days, that if you just want something simple with spot-lock/i-pilot, then this is the way to go. I love the small footprint of the mount, too. It's tough to find a review on the functionality, durability on this model, that's not 4yrs old. So, I appreciate it. I'm trying to make a decision on this now.

@@ScruffyCityFishing Yeah...I was considering dropping the $5K on the Power Pole Move, but until I start seeing some reviews, I just don't feel safe spending that kind of money. I think I'll go this route, keep it simple, and just wait out the storm. Everyone just wants a simple, durable, cable steer, TM with spot-lock under $2K...none of this fancy crap that no one really wants. And, yet it seems like the industry is going the complete opposite direction. Technology for technology's sake....smh.
@ScruffyCityFishing Жыл бұрын
@@phillamoore157 I fish deep more than shallow, so the poles wouldn’t help me much. That said, I get it if you live in a place with lots of shallow grassy lakes. If you watch my other videos though, you’ll see that I fish main lake/river. They also kill our grass here.
@phillamoore157 Жыл бұрын
@@ScruffyCityFishing Sorry, I wasn't referring to the Power Poles, themselves. I'm talking about the new trolling motor the Power Pole company came out with called "Move". It looks like a great trolling motor, but they want $5K for it. It seems that company wants its pound of flesh for just about every product they offer. But, yes, I agree... for me to have a set of Power Poles installed, I'd have to be convinced that I'd never fish water deeper than 10ft 99% of the time. Spot-lock is fine for how I fish. If the day comes, God-willing, to where money is no object yes, I'd probably put a couple power-poles on my Stratos. I fish down here in central FL, where the lakes are very shallow, and it's still not really worth it to me to get those installed. I always seem to be fishing water just outside the range of those.

@@phillamoore157 FYI - if your boat is a Tracker, please be aware that the Tracker Service Center at BassPro/Cabela's will not install a power pole. I was told that Tracker won't allow it and that it voids the warranty.

I've cussed myself for not having spot lock, ever since. Just installed a brand new terrova this weekend though, just in time for fall jerkbait fishing!

Have the same motor. I had the money to purchase any of them,but I WANTED 12v. We drift weedlines on our lake & when we get into a school of panfish you just hit spotlock, fish awhile, then drift,repeat. 12v because I can use it all weekend and when I leave the cabin I just plug in the 12v solar charger on my boat lift and it's charged 100% when I arrive the next weekend.

@ScruffyCityFishing2 жыл бұрын
So far, so good. It has held fine in any wind and current I’ve had it in. I think the biggest difference when moving to a 80lb 24v is how long the motor can go in tough conditions. I bought the biggest battery I could get and honestly with my schedule, I’m rarely out for more than a few hours at a time.

I hate to break it to you, but the motor you have in an iPilot motor, which you cannot hook up to your humminbird. You would need an iPilot Link, which is an option on this motor as well, but for a few hundred more.

I actually have a lowrance 5” HDS connected via an adapter. Only 2d sonar, but it’s what was in my budget. One big draw back is that you cannot connect more advance transducers to it because the shaft slides when launching and retrieving.

Yes. The software is pretty smart. The foot pedal will override the remote. So, if you have it on a heading track via the remote, using any command on the pedal disenagages what the remote is doing.

Thank you for the video! I have back issues and I am trying to decide between the 55lb & 80lb thrust terrova. Does anyone know if the 55lb Terrova is easier to stow and deploy? Also, could you please confirm that the 55lb terrova is only 35lbs. Minn Kota is saying that it is only 1 pound lighter than the 80lb thrust Terrova which I find hard to believe. Please let me know. Thanks, Tony
@ScruffyCityFishing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! I don’t have any first hand experience, but the mechanics of a trolling motor almost have to mean the 80 is heavier.. right? More copper and larger foot for more power. Only mitigating factor that I can think of is sending 24v to the same size motor.. would that make 80lb thrust? It’s a great question. My dad has the ulterra.. much more expensive, but your back would probably appreciate it.
@TonyGruber20092 жыл бұрын
@@ScruffyCityFishing Agreed, thanks. Were you able to weigh your Terrova or did you get the 35lb weight from somewhere online. Your dad is lucky to have the ulterra, I would like one but was worried about the auto stow and deploy breaking. Has your dad had any problems with his? Thanks, Tony

I have not weighed it, but I can. I found the weight by starting a purchase and seeing what the “shipped weight” of the item is. Funny, just did it again and Amazon says 37lbs.
