You were on your way past to a place with a few older autos... further up 118 and if I remember correctly a bit disappointing. I am 4kms down the road in the direction of Bor Sang... you would love my place in the rice fields - - several very nice restaurants around Doi Saket. And if you want to stop by, my place is exactly up your ally. Not the biggest house, but oh my, the ambiance... you want some photos?

Nice little adventure Wayne. Just so you know, those padlocks are also referred to as Love Locks, they represent the love and bond between 2 people in love. If you looked at some of the locks, you would notice some with people's initials on them. 😊

Cheers mate! It's a great location for being just outside the city, but ease of use to get into the city. The air would be slightly better from traffic.

Nice one Wayne. What is the public transport situation between all these districts of Chiang Mai if you don't drive cars or ride motorbikes? Are there bus routes run around broader Chiang Mai or tuk tuks. What is the best mode of transport for those that prefer to avoid navigating themselves, in particular tourists without an International drivers licence? Maybe that could be an idea for a separate vlog down the track even. Noticed yet again they don't believe in providing decent footpaths for pedestrians. Nice little town this one and the surrounding rural areas so beautiful. Inexpensive to live there and , yes, I could live there for sure. Cheers mate 🍻

Lot's of Songthaews coming and going from Chiang Mai, to Doi Saket mate. This would be one of the better districts for transport. Yes, the sidewalks in DS aren't the best man. I like it here, it's a cool town. Thanks man.

If you drive over the bridge you keep going the road is a bit rough for a couple of km then its ok, keep going and you drive through some quiet villages and you can head to phao thats a real nice drive or you can go to bua tong waterfall and then drive to mae jo and back into town theres some great places around that area. Doi saket used to have a nice bar owned by an american but its long gone there used to be alot of dutch who stayed the winter here that stayed in doi saket not so much since covid but its a nice area i dont live far from it.

Theres not much in Phao just a big market and a few places to eat but its pretty chilled and the locals are sound they dont see many foreigners its way off the tourist map but the ride out to it is nice the road is great ive driven all over that area and from there to fang and the other way to chaing rai, you can do some nice day trips from chaing mai city to these places Fang is worth a night stop over theres some cheap hotels and theres a few bars and restaurants there not a bad place.

Great video Wayne we have owned home on moo bean a few clicks before doi Saket for over 20 years and watching this was so great for us to watch downtown has changed a lot also the temple has gone thru some big changes but wasn’t finished when we there in February might be a good side trip to check out again!!

Nice one Wayne. The Mae Kuang Dam is quite the peaceful and majestic place. With the love locks on the bridge it could be a good date destination. I'm sure Mae Kuang Dam is a place that's seen alot of couples Maekin' da love... Your arsh should try it sometime with a special someone. 😉

@@WalkAboutWayne Decades ago before the age of scooters like most, I used to rent style bikes in Malaysia and Thailand but mostly on the road, I heard Chiang Mai had some great off road places to ride but later that off road riding was curtailed a bit. Might be a good vlog to hook up with your mate in the mountains.

The road you stopped at after the bridge keeps going on to a really cool waterfall and pops out on the road to Phrao but not too far from Mae Taeng.

Nah, GoPro still champ for me. Pocket to Narrow field of view for vlogging, highlights are blown out too. To much to break for vlogging. It's good though. Just depends what you like. Thanks buddy.

@@Stuffed007 I'm talking about the new Pocket 3 aswell mate. Try being a full time vlogger in the move with the pocket 3 . 1 inch sensor is cool but you get the blurred background. No way does is blow everything out the water , not even close. It's good though man, it's just what ever you prefer . I would choose the Action 4 over the Pocket 3. Nothing beats GoPro yet, for my needs though.

@Stuffed007 Yeah it's all good buddy. Don't get me wrong it's a nice camera ( I've watched countless reviews on it already) it depends what you like doing. It would t be no good for me, because I need a tough cam, that I can throw about in all situations. I would defo have one for chilled vlogs though. I've been watching that the Action 4 holds the highlights a little better than the pocket 3. Nothing you cant change in settings though. 👍 Again, it's nice man. I'm expecting to see your vlogs now stuffed mate 👍👍

I'm expat residing in lampang Been here many years and know immigration here very well from when they first set up office here about 8 years ago Before all retiree's had to go Chiang mai which was a pain in the arse Anyway just some useless information the last time I applied for my visa in July was told 173 farang registered for retirement/marriage visa in Lampang province 😮

liked chiang mai way better than bangkok in therms of the traffic there , the people seem to be more friendly and trying to rip you off less allso liked the fact that it was cooler there than in bangkok at that time (i was there in december januari) whont visit this year and might not next year either as im realy pumping a lot of money intoo bitcoin , the intention is to end up with enough money to be able to retire a few years early , chiang mai is at the top of the list of places i might want to live if i ever manage to make enough to be able to stop working for a living as the cost of living there is verry low but the standard of living is still good enough for a city slicker like me the petlocks are the more modern heart carved in the bark of a tree , there some bridges in europe that are completely covered by locks as well

If the area was truly unsafe, you wouldn't see a gold shop open like this. Even the surrounding countries of Thailand will not have one. that opened in small towns in the provinces because they may be robbed at any time.😊
