A lot of the proper chip shops in Scotland are owned by italian families (scots-italian descendants is probably more accurate these days). The business name will usually be a bit of a clue to whether the case. Its usually very common to see mac cheese or lasagne on the menu (served with chips of course for the full double carb effect) alongside the usual fish, sausage etc. The bigger shops or sit in places usually offer a range of italian ice creams as well. "Special fish" is also very popular on the Scottish menu, usually being haddock which is breadcrumbed rather than battered and always made to order.

I get so much joy seeing grandparents spending special time with their grandchildren 😊 Unfortunately I will not experience that. My beautiful daughter passed away during covid & my other beautiful daughter has chronic illness, aside do. Your vlogs of your lovely family put a smile on my face 😊😊😊❤❤

I've been to Moray a few times. (Forres, Lhanbryde and Elgin) And Ca'Dora is the best fish and chips I've ever had. Way better than what we get in England. The fish batter has got a gorgeous taste to it which I could eat all day. The Irish curry sauce is handsome and the portions of the meals are huge.

Definitely has a different flavour to usual British chip shop stuff and is lovely. You can buy it in some Morrisons stores.

Went to the goose fair in Nottingham years ago when i was a kid, and they used to sell on the fair peas in a cup with vinegar on them, i loved them and still love vinegar on my peas and yes mint sauce.

I used to live near there in Duftown and I thougth the fish suppers were amazing in Scotland. The huge haddocks would always cheer me up. You are making me very jealous while here in Devon. Hope you are all having a great time. While you up there try "cullen skink" it will warm your hearts. Cullen is not that far from you. You can get the real deal there.

Martin my mum used to make a big pot of mushy peas and used to put some on top of either a scots mince round pie or steak pie with the vinegar n pepper. At new year at the Bells everyone lined there tummy's with the steak pie n mushy peas before the celebrations of a new year 🎉
