It's the best I have had Greeno. My daughter was flying home to Leeds Bradford Airport from a school trip in Berlin and she was exhausted and tearful. I saw Murgatroyds and took her for fish and chips and it certainly raised a smile on our trip home.

Hey, Greeno. I've just watched Gary eats one hour ago, and he is up in Anstruther right now, and had the fish and chips at the harbour and was blown away by the quality (gave it a 10 star, the best fish and chips he has ever had, bar none) and the reason was, cooked in beef dripping. Plus, obviously, the quality of the cooking skills. It also has to be cooked to order.

It might not be for everyone but that gravy was the right consistency for me. I dislike too much flour or cornstarch in mine. That gravy at least coated the chips and the colour was impressive. I could almost taste it. That fish looked properly made as well. Wonderful stuff. Thanks Greeno and a belated happy birthday.

When I was a child Dad would take us to various fish and chip shops in Yorkshire. He was born in Bradford and moved to Padiham after WW2 as his younger siblings were evacuated from Bradford. We loved our Chip shop treats. Only Yorkshire fish and chips for us. I was salivating watching you eat that and I have just devoured a beef rib with all the sides!!! I am so impressed. I have to go to Skipton for decent fish and chips but it's going to have to be a day out to Yeadon. Pickled egg looks great. No sulphurish black coating on the yolk. £10 for that portion of fish and chips is amazing! 👍

Amazing how such a staple dish as fish n' chips in this country can vary from one region to another but it is definitely one of my favourites and whilst I like to go to my local chippy occasionally I prefer to make my own!!

try the wetherby whaler at Guisely ( not far from Murgatroyds) the original site of the first Harry Ramsdems. I can remember going there in the 50"s, we live in norfolk but went to show in bradford not that long ago and had the senior special at Murgatroyds ,we couldnt manage the desert but they boxed them up including tubs of custard.5*

Great review Greeno! I love Murgatroyds, the freshness, flavours and quality are just top level. The only other one I'd consider equal in Yorkshire is Whiteheads in Hornsea over on the coast. You should give it a go!

Defeats the objective of crispy batter then smother that lovey crispy batter with gravy end up soggy. 😂. I live on the right side of the Pennines in Lancashire 😂 you will find there are different types of batter on fish depending where you are in the UK. I noticed in Yorkshire they have batter that's generally a bit darker and extremely crispy and crunchy. Sometimes it's a thick coating sometimes it's a lighter coating. Of course last time I ventured over to the Wrong side was about 8 yrs ago so it maybe different now to back then 😂 Jokes aside at least us Northerners know how to do Fish n Chips - until you hit Scotland and it's a whole different ball game - some of the best I've eaten was in Scotland.

That looked great, even the pickled egg, I've tried them a few times, but all I usually can taste is vinegar and nowt else! As far as down south is concerned you must of tried Alexander's in Mudeford, personally think they are one of the best, love their rock salmon!

It's really good. From the user name I guess you are a Saltaire native? What a place that is - in my previous job I used to deal with Pace who are based there - always looked forward to any meetings up there as it gave me a chance to visit!

Another great video! However!!! Gary Eats has just reviewed the Anstruther Fish Bar (not far from Edinburgh) and he said that it cleanly knocked Yorkshire fish & chips off the map! he said the best fish & chips that he'd ever eaten! To coin Gary's phrase: "you should give it a go"!!

This is definitely Yeadon, for Guiseley Wetherby Whaler is the old Harry Ramsdens. Little Fisherman just down the road from Murgatroyds is excellent too.

Think you've got your areas of Leeds muddled. It's Yeadon whereas Guiseley is the other side of Yeadon heading out North West towards Menston and Burley. The airport runway is literally a few hundred metres away and it is still called Yeadon airport to most Leeds folk.

Hey Greeno, I saw you try gravy with fish and chips, inspired by Danny’s method! You gave it a good go, but I think you missed a key part of his approach. Danny combines the fish, butter, mushy peas, and chips all in one bite to get the full experience. Maybe give it another shot the “Danny way” next time! Love seeing you experiment with flavors-keep up the great work!

Yeadon was famous for the smallest and largest fish and chips shop in the UK. Mergatroyds I think was the old harry Ramsdens.
