This is going in every mono black big mana deck as the swamps have multipliers like coffers, nirkana, crypt ghast, caged sun, gauntlet ect. That 1 land can be 4 extra mana often.

As is the case for many cards, where the swords find homes is relative to the commander, synergies, and playstyle one uses when deckbuilding. I pulled Light/Shadow and Body/Mind from the same box and tried to use the buff and protection as a justification for running them in my Winota deck, with a second focus on the on-hit effect (since I wanted my creatures to survive combat because Winota encourages swinging often). I thought L/S would be more useful due to the protection and potential to get back creatures, but my deck was so fast and risky that I either rarely had creatures in the bin, rarely saw reason to equip (when I could swing or setup instead), or I had no creatures to equip it to. B/M proved more useful instead because I could swing without fear of bounce and I could maneuver past Green's big beaters. The Wolf token would be used for an additional Winota trigger the following turn, while the mill would occasionally disrupt my opponent's combos. Some of my double-strike creatures made it even more reliable. As for this sword, I definitely see it potentially making infinite combats if you blink Combat Celebrant and have a haste engine. It's something I intend to try out.

I believe the power level is higher than the sword of the animist in the form of it does the same thing, plus it flickers. Also nine out of 10 times there is someone playing green at the table be- cause it's the most common color played. It also gives the feature of protection from white and green which just adds to its power.

I feel like a lot of people are underselling the protection from Green. Protection doesn't just work against removal spells, protection also means that the equipped creature can't be blocked be creatures of that color and doesn't receive damage from sources of that color as well, which is very relevant when it comes to Green. Being able to freely swing and/or block against a Green deck, the stompiest and most popular color in Commander, is incredibly useful

l've really been loving my aura-focused Wyleth deck, and because of that every time l see a Sword with "Protection from white/red" l cry a bit inside xD

Which is why I moved to a more equipment focus in my Wyleth Deck Hearth and Home is still one of the cheaper swords, yet is so good due to the blink effect. My favorite combo is the sword plus Sun Titan with a fetch. Crack fetch, get land(1) Play Titan, return fetch, crack(2) Hit player with sword, get land, blink Titan, return fetch, crack(4) Next turn, give DS to sword creature, attack with it and Titan. Get fetch with Titan, crack(1) First strike sword triggers, get land blink Titan(2) Titan EtBs get fetch, crack(3) Regular damage sword triggers get land(4) blink Titan again get fetch, crack(5) So you have pulled most if not all your basic lands out,and you still have an untapped 6/6 on board.

one thing i also thought about when comparing home and hearth with sword of the animist, was that it trigger 2 times with double stike. since animist say on attack and home and hearth is on damage but as you pointed out animist is on attack which is easier.

I think you’re about right on the popularity. It’s more specialized than Fire and Ice but with a higher top end if you can really use the flicker. My Yarok deck plays with both creature ETBs and landfall, so I’d definitely be happy to crack one.

I've noticed that so far all of the ally-colored swords have effects that are entertwined somehow. Sword of Truth and Justice puts a +1/+1 counter on a creature and then proliferates, Sinew and Steel removes two permanents at once, and Hearth and Home flickers a creature and then puts it onto the battlefield at the same time as it puts a land onto the battlefield. The enemy colored swords each did two entirely unrelated things. Fire and Ice shocks something and then draws a card, War and Peace damages the player it hit and heals you, Body and Mind mills the player it hit and makes a wolf, Feast and Famine untaps your lands and makes the player it hit discard a card, and Light and Shadow makes you gain life and get a creature out of your graveyard.

What about Double Strike (like Reyav or Shu Yun)? Fetch two lands and flicker up to two creatures seems pretty worth it to me. It also enables tap ability decks which utilize Intruder Alarm (Phenax just got ramp and an extra round of milling each turn). Reyav swords would be a pretty neat deck with the double trigger for each sword; not to mention Siggarda's Aid and Puresteel Paladin.

The sword only nets you a basic land, and unless your running a mono MAYBE two coloured deck then youll most likely not be using that many basics. As for the flicker effect unless your running a ton of ETB effects its kind of a wasted ability. So i think the sword will see some play in specific decks its not going to see a lot of use over all. Also sword of the Animist triggers on attack. You actually have to hit with hearth and home to get its triggers.

Honestly, this is just safe ramp for every deck. Equip the sword, attack with the equipped creature, and blink the equipped creature. You get a shiny new land, your creature doesn't enter combat, and you get any ETBs they might have had for free.

im shocked Balan, Wandering Knight wasnt in the list. this is a white legendary 3/3 creature with ability 1 and a white to attach all equipment you control to Balan. she has First strike and Double strike if she has 2 or more equipment on her. I have a Balan voltron deck with 35 equipment, 6 of which are these swords.

So the main difference between this and the Sword of the Animist is that SoA puts the basic land into play tapped and SoHaH just puts in into play like Beanstalk Giant so you have that one more mana to use for the turn..... MEANWHILE SoFaF is the ONLY non green card that lets you untap all your lands AND it does other things that further improve it's price tag. I guess it's nice to have another non green ramp card for White decks.

yes, you can use it in reanimator decks, because you can returning to battlefield a card from your graveyard, exile, hand, library, commander zone and creatures of your own that control an oponent. Nevertheless, the rule 108.4a, prevents you from using the ability with permanents or spells in the battlefield or in the stack, because you control this cards like you said.

Pro green and white is one of the best pro's ever - you attack through most decks that have blockers with this sword and it protects from the most premium creature spot removal in the format between Swords to Path to Dispatch. The protection is super relevant. Doublestriking ramps 2 untapped lands This is clearly the best sword if you play equipment combo decks. It's very clearly better than feast and famine in those decks. It's clearly better than F&F in any deck that isn't green ramp. Aurelia Warleader, Akki Battle Squad were not mentioned. They are two main reasons why this sword is better than F&F - its infinite combo pieces are more relevant than Aggravated Assault in the decks that actually utilize equipment efficiently (i.e hardly ramp using lands and have artifact synergies)

Is this sword better than Sword of Feast and Famine? No. Untapping your lands is incredible and the cards combo potential is too high. Is it now the second or third best sword? I would argue that it is. Winota, Joiner of Forces or any boros aggro deck would love this. Blink decks, control decks and combo/aggro. All of these lists will welcome the value offered here. And being able to hit a land and blink a creature every time you hit has it's own combo potential!
