As I was listing to your video, you were talking about a 300 pound mount and a 300 pound scope, and thought thats a lot of weight, and then, oh ya, your british and those were prices. 😂😂

I think a possible reason why some site's beginners recommendations are so out of touch, is that they aren't really on the side of beginners looking for helpful advice, but that they are just a part of the suppliers advertising department. Your reviews at least tell us what you have bought with your own money. Which is much more useful and reliable than sites that have a revolving door of new products, with each one being better than the last "best one."

Purchased the 122mm triplet version for $1,400.00 shipped, and wow, it's a really nice and sharp telescope. svbony makes some pretty darn good scopes without ridiculous prices.

For the blue and indigo star halos, Photoshop has a built in "fringe remover" in the Camera Raw filter options. Baader also sells a filter called "fringe killer", which supposed to correct the blue spectrum. If you truly want none of the blue haloes, you gotta buy a triplet or a quadruplet or quintuplet or a sextuplet. If you enjoy wider fov astrophotography you can try the new Askar FMA180 pro, which is still cheap and it's more like a camera lens, but it needs no flattener or anything, it's a petzval design and cost around $400 us dollars. There is also a cheap petzval scope from Askar 71F, which is a petzval design for $600 US dollars. People who think petzvals are expensive don't count in that a doublet or a triplet needs a flattener and buying those also would mean you are in the petzval price territory, but now you have to measure out your correct backfocus and that can be a pain.

SVBony has a new filter that should help a lot with the blue bloat. The SV231 is $39-$47 and replaces a UV/IR filter. Unfortunately I haven't tested mine yet with my SV503/102 and SV705C, bad weather has been a problem. The SV550/80 would be a competitor to the Celestron 80mm or the 71F and it is widely available. It is a triplet and is well regarded without any CA.

Got myself Sharpstar61EDPHiii and I was never more excited about the results since I got L-Ultimate narrowband filter. My first starter was Celestron travelscope 400mm on a really wobbly tripod. TRULLY TERRIBLE. So I saved some money and bought NEXSTAR 8SE. It was great for the moon and planets but not for the astrophotography. And I tried. I even made myself an EQ wedge, but the truth is, German Equatorial mounts are much more superior to the poor nexstar mount. So I got myself a second hand EQ6R pro that I still use today, and put the 8SE on it. It was so much better, however, the good tracking exposed another flaw in 8SE, the awful coma on stars that were off the centre, so I sold it, saved even more money and got 8HD instead, then sold some musical equipment and in the short one year also got ASIAIR MINI, ASI2600 and Optolong L-Ultimate filter. If you ask me what made the biggest difference, it was this filter and the mount. If you ask me what I would buy first, A GOOD MOUNT

How do you find the 61edphiii? Any fringing on bright stars? I know it has evolved quite a bit since the first version.
@NautilusCLАй бұрын
I think the Celestron is a knock off, but a good one with basic ED glass. With many Chinese makers doing apochromatic reflectors these days, its easy to pick one and rebrand it as a "Celestron". Heck, is the same thing Svbony does, they are not manufacturers, but they pick reasonable good quality items from china and put their brand.

i just picked up the SVBONY SV48P 90mm refractor telescope bundle with SV231 1.25" color corrected filter for 249.00 dollars after tax and i have to say the filter makes the scope good, no blue edges on bright objects i havent tried it with a camera yet but i will eventually

Hey Damon, I just bought a SeeStar S50. Would you say this build is better than the S50? I’m pretty hooked with DSO photography, and so far the S50 is producing amazing results for me. I do already have a nice mirrorless camera so I would just need the mount and the telescope of course. Thanks so much for your time and have a great day

Do you recommend purchasing a flattening reducer for the SV503 70mm? I have seen that they have stopped selling it, but perhaps the reducer flattener of its older brother SV503 80ED can be adapted
@KevinRudd-w8sАй бұрын
Interesting comparison. I would throw in the Samyang/Rokinon F2 135mm lens as one to consider. I have read this can be hit and miss, with some people saying that they had to return at least one or two before they got one that was suitable, but mine was ok first time round. Obviously it can be used straight off with a DSLR but it can be used via adaptors with a variety of astronomy cameras as well, suitable filter draws and adaptors are available from the likes of ZWO, Altair Astro and DeepskyDad. I began with this lens, an original Star Adventurer non goto tracker and a DSLR and was able to capture plenty of dso': s I was getting reasonable stars with an exposure of 45" at ISO800 and f2.8 Currently I have it set up for use with my 183 cooled mono camera, on a Star Adventurer GTi, EAF, and guide scope controlled by a Stellar mate Pro 128 but I don't think that's really a beginners set up as it would cost over £2000 Would those scopes you reviewed work ok with a 585 sensor camera? Even the cooled versions of these cameras are relatively cheap,

I have a celestron 6se on a wedge, but do you think buying the svbony from this video would benefit me? I wish to capture more deep field images rather than planets and this seems like a good idea. I would use the sv on my current wedge set up since I am not looking to spend any money on a mount at the moment (probably 30 second exposures, 60 ones with a bit of luck and good conditions).

@rizen34672 ай бұрын
Dont think so, this scope doesnt have much focal length, and for simple visual i think this is overkill not suitable. For visual you want as big of a opening as possible, something like a newtonian telescope.
@allnamesaretakenАй бұрын
@@rizen3467 These telescopes are perfectly fine for visual, barlow lenses are good these days and you can buy eyepieces of very low focal length to reach high magnification. Nothing wrong with Newtonians unless you want a telescope that can be used for day as well.
