Michelin Power 6 - 100% Road Biased Tire
I set out to look for the best tires for motorcycles and when the Michelin Power 6 hit the stores early 2024 - I put on a pair and took it out for a spin. Enjoy the vlog style video where I cover the feel of the tire and some cool facts.
1 - Tire warms up FAST
2 - Stays warm of long
3 - Overall feel - VERY different from its predecessor Michelin Power 5.
GRIP
Grip was good from the get go. Motorcycle manual says take it easy for the first 160kms on brand new tires - but these bad boys felt good almost immediately. Gets up to temp for street riding within the first 1-2 kms of just rolling. Probably due to the good compounds.
FEEL
The Power 6 immediately feels sharper than its predecessor. Feel is the probably the one thing that you need to pay attention to. As riders - we tend to feel different things on the bike but when it comes to tire shape, we will most likely be able to come to a collective agreement immediately. The Power 6 is more agile, faster turning tire than the Power 5. I have no information on why but my hunch is either the shape, or the hardness of the wall. Turns in fast, reactive - Michelin signature feel - consistency at all lean angles.
TIRE WEAR
I have been using these bad boys for about 8 months now - at around 4k mileage. Still no signs of wear. Michelin said longer tire life and they meant serious game. I have not started seeing significant wear as opposed to other brands that start to show signs of wear very quickly like squaring off, iffy feeling etc.
SUMMARY
If you need a tire that just does street, but want the extra confidence that the tire will work well for you, this is a very forgiving, very predictable tire that will get you that extra edge. Be it the standard commute in the dry and torrential rain, or the spirited riding that you do at the canyons - this tire does it all, and does it well.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the review. That will be my next set. Currently I have Road 6. Very good tyre and mileage. I hope the Power 6 will also give good mileage.

You are very welcome! The Road 6 will definitely have better mileage if compared to the Power 6. I came off a Power 5 and got a solid 6000 miles on it with spirited riding and 1 trackday. The Power 6 is a huge step up from the Power 5 so I am expecting similar from it. The biggest difference might be how long it gives that same feel further in to the tire wear. But it’s a great choice nonetheless. It impressed me so much that I popped on the same Power 6 for my 250cc. It also comes in the 110/140 size! Amazing tire.

Excellent technical review. I wonder if you had done a similar review for the road 6 GT. These two in addition to the RS IV are my decision point for my K1600 GTL. Not the same type of motorcycle that you are showcasing but I would factor that on my own. Letmk with a reply to this post. I would come back and check in a few days.

Hey there. Thanks for the question and i wished i had the answer for you but ive not ridden on the Road models before. The closest i ever got to Touring tires were the Bridgestone T31 and T32. Have them on a Vulcan S and rode a good 2-3 years on them. If I could take a shot, and make an uneducated guess, it would be that the touring tires are usually built with longevity and water repulsion in mind. In terms of feel, i remember vividly switching out from the oem dunlops to the T31, they felt much more planted and stable. For your 1600, you might be looking for something that would be rounder and more predictive and easier to steer. I would definitely advise against the Rosso 4. The sharp profile is tricky and overzealous. It wants to dive in. So a rounder profile like the Michelins would be highly desirable for a k1600. My first pick on a k1600 would defo be the Road 6 GT. The Power 6 is great too but the GT seems more fit for purpose on your ride. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Been riding bikes since Adam was a lad and I must admit to always having Michelin on both my cars and bike but these road 6 on the bike ( I have the GT as my R1200RS is on the heavy side ) nearly a year now and still look brand new showing no signs of wear and been faultless in all weathers

Got Gp2 on my L6 gsxr600 after having Metzeler 7rr which were crap at best. Gp2 are amazing. Sticky and easy turn in and smooooth. Brilliant tyres.

Ive only had on a set of metz m9rr for a very brief period. Wont say they are crap coz they indeed do what they were intended to but the michelins just takes it all in 1 package and gives you more in every aspect.

Yeah was probably the fact that they’re not a sports tyre and 4.5yr old too. Would just not turn in without a lot of pressure on inside bar. These gp2 are great. I’ve heard the supercorsa are even better but they won’t last long
@ErrolDynamics
@ErrolDynamics 26 күн бұрын
@@Rabbydabbydoo It all depends on the use of the tire. the supercorsas if you are referring to the SC range are best left for the track. The SP is the street version. That might be a better bet for the roads instead of the track.

@@ErrolDynamics Yeah I’m not new to riding. 30+yrs on sports bikes mate. I ride hard on road so I don’t care about lifespan, I want all the grip I can get.

@@Rabbydabbydoo yeah dood... I just need to be careful what i say. because safety is always top priority. while the supercorsas are indeed one of the grippiest tires around (when up to temp), i cant say that it is grippy if the conditions are 15 degrees out and drizzling. but some will still think the supercorsas have good grip on the get go and take it at face value. It is our job to help them understand the differences. Safe ride always brother. I appreciate you.

Salam Brother, I own a Z800 and live in the UK, I purely do street riding. Someone recommend the Power 5 however, not sure just to go for the Power 6. You say its a different feel, which tyre is the better all rounder, in your opinion? And more importantly, which tyre is more fun? Thanking you in advance. 😃
@ErrolDynamics
@ErrolDynamics 10 күн бұрын
Hello brother. I would strongly suggest to go for the Power 6. The Z800 is a street bike but it is a tad bit heavy at 240kg. That itself is a monster you would want to have a set of tires that makes it easier to turn and make the bine more agile. The Power 6 does exactly that. The Power 5’s most obvious improvement to any other tire was the rounded feel. Made it very easy to steer the bike, and it automatically goes where you look. The Power 6, took all of that + quicker and more agile turning. If you asked me, power 6 all the way.

Hello from Thailand! Thank you for the great review. What are your thoughts on comparing it with the S23? I mainly ride on the road, but I also do the occasional track day. The weather in my country is quite similar to yours. I've visited your country before, and everyone rides incredibly well, even Grab Bike and Food Panda riders.

Sawadeekap kun! Thank you for watching my video. I have ridden the bridgestone s20, s20evo, s21 and s22. Not on the s23. So i cannot compare against s23. But if the tire is similar to its predecessors, the only point i will note is the wear pattern. I notice the bridgestones tend to square up quite quickly. The bridgestones are more closer to the dunlop race tires in terms of behaviour. In my own personal opinion, the power 6 is a step above the rest - not including the very aggressive pirelli rosso 4. If you are familiar with s23 for daily riding, i think you will be VERY happy with the Power 6. Ive ridden for 5000kms, around the twisties and city riding, including heavy rain, the tire held extremely well and is way beyond my capability as a rider. This tire blew my mind. It is intuitive - it does what i am thinking. I realised i didnt have to try very hard to turn, the bike was already doing what i wanted before i actively initiated a direction change. So easy to ride, reducing rider fatigue and allows the rider to just do what they like best - focus and enjoy the ride. Hope this helps brother. Ride safe and safe ride always!

@@ErrolDynamics I recently switched to the S23, having previously used the Rosso 4. I've typically stuck with Pirelli, but I want to explore other brands. I feel that Pirelli's marketing in Thailand is so intense that it overshadows the benefits of other tire brands. Next time, I'll try the Power 6. Thanks for the recommendation Bro!
@ErrolDynamics
@ErrolDynamics 2 ай бұрын
@ i think marketing is critical. The rosso 4 really likes to be in the turns. If you are mostly upright, the ride tends to be a bit fidgety and overenthusiastic. It REALLY wants to dive in. This is suitable to the aggressive riders. When you do switch, let me know your thoughts. Im keen to know if we will share the same experience 😬

Hi bro! Nice to be acquainted with you and thank you for viewing my video! I've ridden the Power 5 but not the Road 6 so I cannot comment. From my limited knowledge, Touring tires and Sports tires are different ballgame. Touring tires are optimised for high speed stability, water repulsion and better rubber endurance for better mileage. Sports tires are optimised for optimal grip. I think the choice by and large depends on your own preference. There is no right or wrong. It would make sense for me to pop on a pair of Road 6 if I want to go to Thailand. but then again, at my riding ability, the Power 6 would more than suffice. It is a big jump from the Power 5 in terms of feel, that I am very sure. Please roger me on IG - erroldynamics. I PM you my number then we kasi on ride plans there. - Ride Safe, Safe Ride Always bro.

Apparently the hard carcass + hard tyre makes the power 6 hard to predict when exploring edge of grip, and uncomfortable especially on non-adjustable suspension? Would appreciate your thoughts.
@ErrolDynamics
@ErrolDynamics 2 ай бұрын
Hi William. The Power 6 is not a hard carcass + hard compound. If by hard carcass you mean the Aramid Weave, yes the stability is there from the firmer belt callout but there is also the Radial X Evo Ply Fold on the walls that add flexibility into the recipe. I’m only on the streets with the Power 6 - and yes it does behave like a softer ‘tire’. In terms of compound, it is definitely not hard compound as well. Uncomfortable on non adjustable suspensions is very subjective. It also depends on the rider and the hardware you are working with. I wouldnt fault the tires as much as i would fault other parameters like condition of bike, condition of roads, tire pressures, temperatures etc. its a great tire and defo my favourite. Do connect with me separately on IG @ erroldynamics if you’d like to chat more.

Hi bro. The 250 has a piece of my heart. I learnt so much with my 250. Still have it today. The 250 with the amount of power it has, you don’t really need a hypersport on it. I have the Michelin Pilot Street 2 on it. Fantastic daily commute also. As the modern tires bridge the tech so closely, the definitions will be diluted also. The general rule is - as long as owner happy. 😂

Ini kene tengok pada kemahuan dan keutamaan bro. Rosso 4 dengan Power 6 sangat berbeza dari segi tunggangan. Rosso 4 dia tajam. Dia nak dive masuk corner dan hold kat situ. Kalau main trek ada rider style camtu. Power 6 dia rasa sangat konsisten. Senang nak ride sbb profil dia rasa lebih bulat. Tak letih macam nak bergusti. Profil rosso sangat agresif. Saya pernah sarung rosso 4 tapi motor terjadi sangat teruja nak dive masuk. Saya tak biasa. Sbb kita geng santuyyyyy.

@@karlhaha4892 Rosso 4 saya pakai 2 bulan. tapi tak dapat biasakan. saya tak boleh nak mengulas banyak. tapi untul power 6 setakat ni, saya dah paka i dekat 4k. tire wear tak nampak lagi, dia belum petak, mungkin dah masuk dalam 30%. tapi tayar biasanya 50% yang baki, performance dia turun banyak. so yang paling best, 50% yg pertama. wet condition on Power 6 - 120 on drenched roads no problem.
