As an overseas Pakistani, i have lost hope in Pakistan when i understood the history of our country, 1971, Musharaf joining war on terror and bombing our own citizens, missing baloch people, etc. Now IK ho ya nawaz ya zardari, this country has no future unless fundamental changes happens which i highly doubt any political or military leader (military leader is an oxymoron, they should be in borders protecting the country, that's it.) will bring it.

Evolutionary process will bring change and it will be process that will take time . “Top down model “ is not going to work . Educate your children , make them skilled , give them political awareness and unbiased knowledge of history and religion . Pakistan’s future is bright . PTI resorted to mob violence to bring the change this time . They thought that a soft coup - revolution will change everything overnight .

As an overseas Pakistani I had always (a young adult in my late teens and early 20s) supported PTI. In fact, I've been a part of many meetings and fundraisers for PTI back in 2011-2013. But I started to back off when I saw a major difference between what was said and being done. Then I saw how PTI was raising a generation of disrespectful, narrow-minded people who would just call derogatory names to their opponents, or just because you don't agree with some of their views you would be called Jayala or Patwari. I completely disassociated myself from PTI in 2015. I started learning more about Pakistan, its history, its political challenges, and how politics is run there. I am glad I did that because now I don't stand with any party or any name. I support PAKISTAN! If there are things Shareefs or Bhuttos did that helped Pakistan, I appreciate them, and if there are things PTI did wrong I would call them out, and nor do I support any institute blindly anymore.

I am from interior sindh . A Thahim and our village was attacked by the military in 1986 for being with the PPP. Men were killed. All my cousins and uncles were dragged out in to a field and were ordered to be killed by a firing squad until the sindh police chief interfered who showed up there just in time and interfered and stopped the madness. Men were then taken in military trucks and put on jails for months. I was 11 at that time but remember it clearly. This was also on the cover of time magazine back in the day. I however am unable to understand how Imran Khan has a cult following and no amount of criticism or corruption cases seem to stick on him. How has that happened? Is it Bushra Bibi's numerous magical experiments working or is it Imran Khan's good looks or is it that the Pakistani public is so frustrated with the way things stand that they are ok to give a chance to anyone who does not carry a huge baggage unlike the Sharifs and Zaradaris. Why is Imran so popular when he flipflops frequently, has zero blueprint for the future and mismanaged Pakistan miserably during his tenure.

I would say it's a mix of all reasons that combine together to make Imran khan the most popular leader in Pakistan. Young Pakistanis, the social media generation see a hope in IK for a better Pakistan. They don't identitify themselves with parties of Sharifs & zardari/Bhutto. Because old parties have been ruling since 1980s and they have not delivered for the people. They ruled on us like british empire used to rule on indian subcontinent. British colonialists plundered indian colony's wealth to build their own home. In the same way Sharif/zardari + Army's Top leadership have been plundering Tax money of Pakistani citizens & resources to build their personal wealth abroad for 30 & 70 years respectively. Public Tax money was not used for welfare of people. It was instead used for the lavish lifestyle of rulers. They have not been able to deny any allegation of Corruption. I would not support Sharifs/zardari because they have no interest in building/developing Pakistan. They have wasted 30 years without any significant development. Instead they made themselves rich with public tax money. Imran khan gives us a hope of a Country which would have Strong institutions that will protect public tax money from Loot & plunder of rulers. Imran khan gives us a hope that Pakistan should not be neglected. We the citizens want our Human rights to be protected by independent state institutions. Imran khan gives us a hope for Rule of Law & Not rule of jungle. Imran khan gives us a hope for Peace & security in Pakistan. The last reason for supporting Imran khan is that he is the Only good option at the moment. There is no alternative to Imran khan. In the past people used to celebrate Army's take over. Because people had a clean image of Army. But now people have realised that Army is the one that facilitate Corruption and create troubles inside Pakistan. Army leadership is not loyal nor honest with us. Army wants Corruption to continue as it allows them to do Corruption without any checks and also because it gives them a chance to blackmail & threaten politicians. ISI has a very big records of Corruption evidences of majority of the politicians, but they don't give it to courts and don't let any Corrupt to be punished. That's a big reason why people have started hating Army. Army leadership is not loyal to Pakistan. There is so much more. It can't be explained in a comment.

Shehzad, I was googling 'Khadijah Shah Torture' thinking that might be the next news and its funny how 2 year old articles popped up of her worker accusing her of 114 employees being imprisoned in her warehouse, not being paid for months and being tortured upon protest. Your podcast brings a much needed critical perspective into our discourse. I, too, have been critical of IK from the outset, but Shahzad, I feel like you don’t apply the same critical lens when it comes to PPP or PML. For example, you are quite differential to PPP, almost never questioning their corruption. Your journalism would carry more weight if you called that out for what it is.

I think one thing that shahzad has so conveniently forgotten that today we are able to learn this because of sicial media. As 90s kids we had no interest in politics as we didn't trust the state run media only news papers were to be believed. So, if today's kids don't know about what benazir went through then that's because they actually don't know. I have no respect or sympathy for Bhutto as he played his part in breaking of Pakistan. Yes it was a planned assassination but still he didn't accept the mandate. We have seen all our lives how they plundered and looted pakistan benazir and nawaz specifically... I do like to believe that if all state institutions had run on their own these two would have been better leaders. But blaming solely imran khan makes me doubt your credibility as well. Although I am pti supporter but i can call a spade a spade. But that doesn't mean you start claiming that imran khan is worse then these looters. Surrey palace wasnt bought with the PM's salary. Talpur and zardaris have blocked the drainage of sindh. Sindh has no health and education structure. Poor people prefee to die thwn go to govt hospitals. I know this because I have connections there

And even when I insist she said we have gone there and no one even come to look at you. I suggested Gumbat teaching hospital to one of her relatives and they refused to go there... I do understand people think it's easier to get donations then bother with govt hospitals but she is not that sort of person. So if you can ask someone to discuss that I am more than willing to listen to that

@@deepblue3682 do you know what a cult is? Supporting someone and worshiping someone are two different things. I know Modi has done exceptionally well for India. I'm an IT guy so I know it way to well because I can see the advancements India is making in modi's tenure. But my point still stands most of these celebrities are cult worshipers. they don't support modi because of GDP growth or IT infrastructure advancement. They supports modi because they want to cater to a large audience that also supports modi. And to answer your question NO khan didn't do shit. and still many celebrities follows him which goes on to prove my point.

In the realm of armed forces, a stark contrast emerges between the noble institution of the professional army and the malevolent presence of dacoits. Though both wield the power of firearms, the distinction lies not in their weaponry, but rather in their adherence to the principles of law, discipline, and honorable conduct. A profound elegance sets the professional army apart, transcending mere physical prowess to embody a profound commitment to righteousness. The professional army, as an embodiment of order and righteousness, operates within the bounds of a just and structured society. Each soldier, a stalwart guardian of the nation, willingly submits to the rule of law, recognizing that their duty is to serve and protect. In the face of danger, they embody a resolute discipline, forged through rigorous training and instilled values. Their conduct adheres to a code of ethics, upholding integrity and respect for human life. Like a symphony of purpose, their synchronized movements on the battlefield exemplify the culmination of tireless preparation and unwavering commitment to a higher cause. Contrastingly, dacoits emerge from the shadows as renegades of society, propelled by lawlessness and devoid of the virtues that guide the professional army. Driven by self-interest, they wield their guns as instruments of chaos, heedless of the devastation they sow in their wake. Their actions are a testament to a decayed moral fabric, where the principles of justice and honor have succumbed to the darkness. Far removed from the symphony of the professional army, their every move is a discordant note in the symphony of civilization, perpetuating a cycle of fear and instability. In this stark dichotomy, the beauty lies not in the possession of firearms, but in the preservation of humanity's highest ideals. The professional army is a testament to the triumph of order over chaos, embodying the elegance of discipline, honor, and the pursuit of a just cause. Its soldiers, guided by the light of virtue, harmonize their actions with the principles of righteousness. Theirs is a calling elevated above the mundane, forging a path where strength is tempered with compassion, and the power of arms is wielded for the greater good. So let us marvel at the profound distinction between the professional army and the dacoits. One stands as a pillar of societal order, a bastion of righteousness, while the other embodies the disruptive forces that threaten the very fabric of civilization. In their juxtaposition, we find a poignant reminder of the enduring power of discipline, virtue, and adherence to the rule of law. The beauty lies not only in the strength of arms but in the resolute commitment to honor and the pursuit of justice that sets the professional army apart.
