I think it's awesome even though they didn't present it that well: "We put a high-polished DLC treatment on it". First, it isn't a high-polish, "somewhat polished" isn't an accurate term but it accurately describes the finish. Secondly it mimiks color case hardening which I think they should've mentioned, it is way less saturated though. I think the rear suppressor height sight should've been included from the get-go and I think it's stupid that they don't shift over SIG RDS to the RMR footprint instead of Delta.

I thought that was either color case hardening or bluing with a ton of fingerprint oil from the people the presenter alluding to having handled it earlier. But I know very little about either of those finishes.

@@rickh9396 Well, at least according to the sales rep it's DLC, diamond-like carbon. It is applied using PACVD, plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition, whatever that is, just starting to read up on it. Color case hardening seems less suited to industrialization, not to mention it is a slightly wild procedure, DLC and other PVD coatings seem to give a much more reproducable result.

Price it out and it isn’t too bad price wise: STAS $2100 Lok grips $100 DLC $350 Total $2550 Having shot high end 2011s and the X Five, this is comparable in shoot ability and quality. Expensive, but not outrageous.

Seems like a Gucci 226 sao for the open division guys. Interesting, but a little steep. I guess it’s venturing out against stacattos more while trying to invoke a sense of scarcity being a limited edition. Still want an all steel DA/SA like the 226x5 Allround and LDC, SSE and tacops, being the best bang for buck 226 elites are duly missed.

I'm sorry. I like SIG firearms and own a few, but this crap is getting ridiculous. Focus on making a few good guns. Their QC has gone down drastically in the last few years and instead of focusing on the weapons they already have and making them perfect, they just keep releasing a new firearm here, a special edition there, another new one here. Most of which don't do anything better than one of their other Firearms already in existence.

@@mattg9971I think because the new legion was just released the pro model, then the x five, now this within a short time. They do it with all their guns. Just milk what they can and get praised for being innovative. But coming from someone who likes common parts compatibility im fine with my “old”226 elite and Glocks. For how much the 320 gets praised for being modular. The initial mags released aren’t compatible. They have like four different optic footprints including Sig optics that don’t fit their own slides (the original Romeo 1 and Gen 2 or 3 or whatever slide cut) and not having holster compatibility. That’s not even starting on the changes to the MCX lineup and praising how caliber change kits would come and being on like a Gen 3 before that even happened making the other $1500-$2000 AR not so modular since they don’t even support it. Sig moves too fast and phases things out for me to really stay up with them. It’s a rat race for the newest “best” thing. I personally shoot a Gen 5 Glock or 226 better than a 320 anyways so I’ll stick with that.

Or … or … they are actually very smart. People soak up customization. If it’s wrong that’s because the majority is wrong. Don’t believe me? Look at the Glock platform. Why does Sig want to lose money to other companies making grips and slides for their chassis? Think Radian afterburner and ramjet for Glock. Or the PSA and Shield micro mags to fix Glocks lack of innovation. On top of that, Sig invented the P365 and EVERY handgun manufacturer on the planet copied them. Their P365 is still releasing new models, yet again, EVERY manufacturer copies their comps, X, XL, etc. they created the modular chassis system and sold it as a military contract. They can literally do whatever they want now. They are sitting on top now and everyone knows it. Also, when you say all of this I assume you don’t have an X Five. Simply one of the finest handguns ever made

Honestly, this looks like they had bunch of spare parts for xfive legion, so they decided to re-treat it with whatever shiny bs and sell as “limited edition”, marking up the fk out of it. I remember we had same in 1953 in USSR, when roughly 14k spare parts from tokarev were used to make that awesome looking “Stalin’s TT” as the last wave, since TT was getting dc from army and police.

I really don’t like double/single action pistols. I can’t stand that transition, I want a consistent trigger pull. I love my nice crisp 1911 trigger and I can work with pretty much all the striker fired pistols. All that said, I like the original 226. I shot it really well and whatever they did with the trigger made that transition a lot less annoying

For that price I can pick up the Mark 25 P226 for its history and the AREX Zero 2 for practicality; and I would still have plenty leftover for ammo and new holsters for both.

Okay I saw this gun in Sig’s email and thought it looked cool. After the video I’m not sure what the point is here. It seems like purely a collector’s gun but without any of the provenance of a classic piece. It’s expensive for a range gun, but not as collectible as an X5. It can’t be shot in any comp classes other than open but it’s definitely not an open gun. It’s beautiful, it really is, and I’m sure it’s a good shooter, but honestly I’d rather them spin up some more equinox or nightmare guns

Not impressed with the Reserve because there is nothing in it that is SPECIAL other than the price and since the pistol is a PRODUCTION gun not a Custom one that is a Ridiculous Price for it. I am a SIG FAN and I own every caliber the P220, 226 and 229 was available in from 9mm, 40sw, 357sig , 45acp and 10mm auto but someone at SIG got it in their head they should only produce P226, P229 and P320 in 9mm but at least they left the P220 in 10mm and 45 but the majority of the new features like the Slide Expansion Chamber is for 9mm and the P320 10mm. Closing the Master Custom Shop in Germany was a MAJOR Mistake by SIG and not bringing those Artist to the USA was pure STUPIDITY because now they are trying to have Custom Shop without people that know how to work on the guns. If you put a new paint job on a 1972 Ford Pinto that does not make it into a Shelby Mustang and that is EXACTLY what SIG is doing every time they put a new coating on a Production pistol and then call it a Custom Gun, well that is not a custom gun. A custom gun is something that is hand fitted and tuned to perfection and the NEW X5 pistol are FAR from the ones that were made in Germany just a few years ago but SIG is still trying to charge the same price as a gun that took a gunsmith several hours to put together. SIG Bring back more Calibers other than 9mm for the P226, P229 and P320 or you are going to go keep loosing Market Shares!
