This is my game of the year. So much to do - so many avenues to explore and most importantly- they’re all so much fun!

I've not really been big on Feld games for a few years now. I played them a lot in my early years in the hobby, but more and more I just felt they were too narrow for my taste, I kept feeling like I was playing the same way every time I got them back to the table. Eventually I sold them all off, didn't pay much attention to his newer releases. But when Civolution was announced, I finally was curious enough to want to give it a chance. Very happy I did, finally I feel I have a Feld that gives me enough choices that I am playing a different game every time. Yeah, the teach is pretty hefty, but the game is surprisingly smooth to grok considering everything that goes into it. Absolutely love it, very happy I got it. I'm not too concerned with the luck factor, because I feel you have so many options you can always find a good path. I enjoy seeing what I can do with what is available to me and this game does that to the max :)

There is a huge misconception shared here. This is a tactical strategy game. You are NOT meant to compete in areas another player is good at (the brown track example). You are meant to figure out your OWN advantage with your cards and play state. It's a sandbox and there ARE options available for alternative strategies that can score more points.

It has a lot but no single thing is complicated. It takes a while to cover all the possibilities but afterwards you can basically play it without the rulebook and be 90% certain you got it all right

You don't necessary have to take so many turns to get a resource. The Trade action is very important in this game and should be upgraded so you can sell the resources you don't need to get the ones you do.

Im confused..when talking about a free card at the end of the game you sauc it scored you 30 points..i feel like it would be 7 to maybe 15. How did i5 get you 30? Top row is only 10 and very hard to get to.

Yeah, the artwork makes or breaks a game for me. I really struggle to get past it. That makes this game a no from me. Shame.

It’s by Dennis Lohausen, who has a great style, done several other Feld games. I think it’s more the theme rather dictates quite a soulless art style.

Love Feld but this one didn’t click. Solid design but not fun for some reason. Mitigating the luck was just tedious and the scoring goals lack luster. I did like the tableau idea though.

I cancelled my pre-order today because the production issues (mixed language cards, missing settlements) extend to retail copies and people on BGG report very poor customer feedback. I was already on the fence, but I do not need to take delivery of an unplayable game.

The "everything feels hard" section makes me want to cancel my preorder regardless of what you said before or after. I probably won't but my expectations tanked.

@@nirszi What do you even get out of a Lacerda? Where does the replayability come from? The ones I've tried are basically one and done. You play a Lacerda twice, then you've seen the whole game, because they're SO SHALLOW for all that is put into them.

I have absolutely zero interest in subjecting myself to this but I'm still glad it exists. This is such an unexpected treat for fans of Feld and big, heavy, (ugly) euros.

I usually likes his games. But for some reason they look...homemade. When a game is challenging and takes effort to learn it helps if it looks interesting. Seesm fun but a very hard sell to me?

Haha, I can feel the feld bias coming through!!! Way too many random elements. I think it was designed by a non-feld designer, the score would be lower :)

​@@jenniferschlickbernd6280 Random event cards that can cause you to lose a tribe? Random Sites that can result in similar negative results when flipped? Random face-down resources on the map so you don't know what resource you are getting? The dice are classic Feld which is not an issue, but the other random elements (^), I'm not sure I would call very Feld. Though I haven't played all the Felds, so maybe there are more Feld games where this randomness is present.

They had complaints above Rats of Wistar with the randomness which seems similar to here. They weren't fans of the Rats tag requirements randomness, Civolution is similar where you can get a card that requires an undiscovered resource. There were facedown Rats/Missions that you would discover and that seems similar to flipping up Sites here and the Event Card requirements I think a similar suggestion Johannes had for Rats is to have things faceup from the start, which could apply here (ie. Sites, resources)

I love Weather Machine, so I don’t really know what to say there. We just share feelings we have when we play, and what we think about mechanisms in games. Disagreeing and liking different things is part of the hobby :)
