Keep using a strat. Gorgeous suhr. Sounds are huge. Best video on the cxm right now because you actually play the pedal and not solely focus on long to infinite decay for ambient sounds. It would be great to hear more, spend more time on the hall algorithm in shorter decay times. Thanks for the work.

Really interested in this company. Seems super forward thinking. The idea of having a programmable preamp with eq is amazing to me. I try to balance my different guitars by having different tone shaping pedals in front of the amp (chandler, boosters, treble boosters etc) But to have a midi switchable pedal that can compensate for each of your guitars, even add an extra boost here and there for different sections - just amazing.

Really sweet. My question would be: if you were to run that into a fully cranked Superlead, or the like, would you run it in front or through a send/return on the back? Either way, it would seem, you're not going to get the overdriven, tube-saturated, power section ever before the reverb, which I think would be best. The send/return would be preamp, smaller tube section making for reverb first, OD second; on the floor, in front, it would obviously be reverb first, overdrive tube section next on a cranked Plexi. Which would seem to be the optimal chain, overdrive before reverb. Sounds great direct, but live? Through a tube driven soaked power amp section? Or even for recording an amp that way...I hope my questioning makes sense. I am curious to others takes on that set up. Note: I am aware that time-based effects (delays/reverbs, et al) generally work well in the send/return, with everything else on the floor (OD, wahs, etc), but for a digital reverb on a cranked power section it makes for a different scenario.

Another solid demo, Pete. I bit the bullet and ordered one of each. Should arrive this weekend. I’d love an update on your use of these, if still applicable. Thanks man 🤙
@eyesintheskies Жыл бұрын
I could only just afford one but can’t decide between the two, I do have an even tide space so perhaps that answers the questio but just interested which you would keep if you could only have one. Does it blow the space out the window? Which do you use most?
@Damaraja Жыл бұрын
@@eyesintheskies The reverb unit tends to be way too strong, a huge, ambient sort of ‘verb, so I usually bring the mix down to almost nothing, just to get a hint of it. That said, I’ve been using it more than the MkII lately. I’m also playing it in sterile conditions at home, so the mix would probably go higher in a live gig context. Until recently, however, the MkII would have been the automatic answer to your question, as it really is a great and widely capable device. But recently I got a Kernom Ridge (which I had to try for a while) and then most recently have spent most of my time building and testing my own circuit boards (boost, overdrives, fuzzes, etc.). So I guess it’s the wrong time to ask me this question 🤓 If reverb is your thing, the 1978 is truly special. However, if overdrive (and into fuzz territory) is what you like most (and you already have a decent reverb unit), you should be able to find a gently used MkII for a significant discount. If you decide to go for the reverb unit, you could try substituting a Benson Preamp for the MkII and see how that goes. Sorry for the lengthy response. I wanted to give you a thorough answer. 🤙

Me: I have reverb in my amp. I don't need it on my board. Pete: Hold my beer.

How many people have used a real Lexicon 224? Although I don't find the CXM 1978 as smooth and creamy sounding, it has a lot going for it, and is much less of a risk than buying a potential minefield of problems with something 40 years old. It also has a lot of uses when recording everything from drums to vocals. That's why I don't consider it expensive, and I'll be getting one in a couple of months when they become available in the UK.

Love that new blue Suhr S type! Amazing demo! Love the multi use of how to use this pedal. Truly amazing how they’ve nailed this! Quick question on Pre-delay is there a way to “calculate “ how much pre-delay you need or do you just do what sounds good to make sure the from of the note is there depending on the part being played before the verb kicks in.
@PeteThorn3 жыл бұрын
Generally I just go by what sounds good sometimes it’s rhythmic or sometimes it’s just separating the reverb a little bit from the dry guitar so that it doesn’t get too washed out. Sometimes no pre-delay is cool
@TheElrondo3 жыл бұрын
Doesn't sound bad...the pedal! Your playing is outstanding like every time. May be a pedal for studio and pros, i'm a reverb and delay addict, but this one is too digital and gimmicky for me. I have some old 19" rack units wich create similar sounds. Well it's always a matter of taste... Stay safe Pete, best wishes from Bavaria Germany 🇩🇪
