They got the whole Pete Segar segment wrong (he was not upset at the music, but the "quality of the sound") and mentioning Taylor Swift in a Dylan piece is sacrilegious.

@@jimsullivan6123 C'mon, she is not that bad, and she was the right example to make. Also, gonna be honest, I don't see so much difference between being mad at the music or being mad at the music because of the quality of the sound.
@jimsullivan6123Ай бұрын
@@Wrecking_World OK, Swift aside there's a big difference to the perception that `pete segar was pissed that Dylan went electric (a betrayal, as the commentators say) and the stage sound on the day. Segar wrote to Dylan, saying he was not upset with the electric music but objected to the poor sound quality. Pete Seeger sent a postcard to Dylan in 1990s explaining that he liked “Maggie’s Farm” and why he was upset at Newport in 1965 - because the sound was muddy, he said. The new Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa has this postcard.

In case you couldn't tell, this was basically a commerical for the movie designed for a young audience who are more familiar with Taylor Swift than Woody Guthrie. By the way, I am not sure this film gets the story wrong with Pete Seeger. Seeger had a lot to do with discovering him. I was watching an interview of Seeger talk about when he was visiting Woody Guthrie, and a young totally unknown Dylan walked in and played a song he wrote that was dedicated for Woody, and Seeger said that they were both genuinely impressed.

This is a nice paid commercial focused on a young audience for the Dylan film. Since the title is A Complete Unknown, it is reasonable to think that the film will focus on his very early years and the different sources that helped to inspire him to write such profound and harmonious songs with such amazing lyrics. I have read somewhere that Dylan was a big fan of the transendentalist poets like Whitman. If you have read Song of Myself, which is a literary masterpiece, and if you read it several times and study it, Whitman will pop out at you when listening to A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall or Mr. Tambourine Man. I hope the film gives both Woody Guthrie and Walt Whitman their due.

Umh, I say thanks to you for thinking this was a paid commercial, but It is not 😅 Anyway, thank you for sharing your point of view nonetheless. I'm happy to see people truly experienced in Dylan's history appreciating all this 👍🏻

Hi there, may I know what are you exactly talking about?
@hulleeseeya12 күн бұрын
@@Wrecking_World Sure. From an editor's point of view, first, I really meant to say your youtube clip "was poorly conceived and, thus, poorly executed." I don't know exactly what you were attempting here, but if you were in the same room, the edits are awkward and it doesn't seem "conversational," which seems to be the attempted effect you're going for. The production budget or equipment seem to be availabe. Onthe other hand, in the way that their are no wrong answers, only poorly supported claims. Sometimes well examined ideas go unnoticed because their structure and delivery are flawed. I tinhk it's worth asking yourself does it come accross cohesively to you? If the answer is No, then why would you release something that's less than the demands of your imagination? IF the answers yes, then what might the devil's advocate in the room say?
@Wrecking_World12 күн бұрын
@@hulleeseeya Ah, I understand what you were saying now, thank you for the detailed answer. So, about the edit, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it. I had other people in the comments who found it nice and personally I find it nice too. I mean, I tried to do something smooth, fluid, not directed toward "reiteration" (y'know, very well edited clips with lots of graphics and animations). It's not perfect obviously, but my line of thought was : "I am aiming for something simple enough to result in decent in one week/just a bit more". I'm happy you found the production acceptable (since I use AI resources, that's the best feedback I can hope for: being as good as the real thing or nearly). Umh, I'm really sorry, but I'm not able to spot those not cohesive moments you were talking about, could you make an example? I tend to be a perfectionist, I like to see little things well made, though my personal time is not that much. Furthermore, an average of 1 video a week is advised for channel about news. I mean, talking about this niche, a keyword can be not so competitive today and turn completely saturated in 7 days. Having said that, I just want to bring in the discussion my point of view and trying to logically respond to you. I am not annoyed, instead I'm happy you set up this discourse in a calm and respectful way.
