Helmi's dish looks awesome, and honestly, it made me salivate a bit... ok, a lot. 🤣🤣 Agree Nick, that chicken looks fantastic!!!! Love your explanations Helmi! And if there is chilly, Helmi is in love! We have seen tons of videos of Food and Footprints and Puri and Sue eating that dessert with beans, and truly, it is hard for us to think of what a dessert with red beans taste like.. we are soooooo curious.

I've never been able to eat nasi kerabu, I know it's traditional but something about the blue makes it taste not right for me 😅 I really miss Malaysian food, its so hard to come by in the UK unless you're in London. Our closest restaurant that classifies itself as Malaysian serves chicken karaage 😂😂

A lot of problematic nomenclatur in this video like ‘taste of Asia’(asia is very huge) and ‘authentic malaysian’(perhaps you meant authentic malay), although Nasi Ulam and Nasi Kerabu is more local to Northern Malaya than KL. Ikan Masin is Ikan Asin in Malay. And In Indonesia there are many terms around nusantara for ginger torch, bunga honje, bunga kincung, bunga kecombrang, asam cekala, etc.
@atalanta77 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I’m from the north and we call it Ikan Masin. And we certainly view Malay food as authentic Malaysian food. Increasingly in Australia people view Malaysian Chinese food as the be all and end all for Malaysian food which is inaccurate and problematic.
@bernardlokman5442 Жыл бұрын
@@atalanta77 Ya seperti I kata. I kata ikan masin itu ikan asin dalam bahasa Melayu.….
@bernardlokman5442 Жыл бұрын
@@atalanta77 no one said that Chinese Malaysian food is the be all and end all for Malaysian food. Malay identity is so diverse. In my home town in Sumatra also Malay. Authentic Malay is not authentic Malaysians. Not all Malays are Malaysians. Not all Melayu kecek Klate. Not all Melayu cakap Nogoghi. Orang asli food is also authentic Malaysians. Your own regional cuisine does not represent your whole country’s cuisine. Same like how Jakartan cuisine does not represent Sumatran cuisine. Just because Chinese Malaysian are dominating Australian food industry does not mean that they represent all Malaysia. It is simply there are not popular Malay Malaysian restaurants yet. Ahdoi, apa lagi pasai?

@@socielledstance yeah, I was born in Indonesia, I know that. Just somehow amused by Jakartans pretending to know what ‘authentic malaysian food is’ and then got some Malaysian terms wrong.

Not friendly staff, bad communication skill, rude, cleanliness 4/10 rate, food taste 3/10 rate how dare they claim Authentic Food? For me its just a simple food & they have to learn more about Malaysian Food...✌️✌️✌️
