Janice be that one friend who always knows where to take everyone to eat, no matter what suburb you're in
@craigwillis33725 жыл бұрын
Hey Janice...I grew up In Eastwood...went to Eastwood Primary and has this suburb changed. In your opening comments...over your right shoulder was the Duke of York Picture theatre !! And on your left was Stanbrowns Menswear Shop !! That crossing can take a long time to get through...like the one at the end of the street....and there used to be a Coles Supermarket there...opened in the mid 1960's !! I used to play soccer (football) on the Eastwood Oval as a child....it used to be a lake would you believe !! When I was a kid the ONLY Chinese eatery was on the Korean side near the Railway station...and that was it !! So many memories for me and I am often there as my Mum lives in a Nursing home in Carlingford and we often go for a drive through Eastwoo !!! Great stuff!!
@JaniceFung5 жыл бұрын
Wow I had no idea the oval used to be a lake...! thanks so much for sharing Craig!

Hey Craig, do you remember if there used to be a bunnings or mitre 10 on the korean side where aldi is now? I vaguely have memories going with my pops there as a kid in the 90s, but nobody's confirmed for me before 😭😂

haha Janice i was inspired by your Eastwood video tour and today we popped down to eastwood while visiting sydney this week fr holiday for the very first time. This whole trip has been like a routine to come back and watch your vidoes after sightseeing each day as a end-of-the day come home to routine, which doubles up as research for the very next day :D thank you so much fr the videos Janice! it has been so fun to watch and 'come along' with you as we trace the footprints of where you've walked on before haha. Anyway were you referring to the honey watercress drink that is served quite typically in hk cha caan teng places at 11:42? haha thats the only drink i can think of abt vegetables, honey, and good for soothing your throat

Hi Janice - I'm a big fan of your vlogs - love the tips and hidden gems you uncover. I watched an ep a while ago now where you showed a frozen dumpling place. I think it's in Eastwood but I can't find which ep it was in. It looked a random house somewhere and I think you entered through a sliding glass door. It was not on a shopping strip. If you know which place I'm talking about could you tell me what it's called? I'd love to go and buy some stuff from there. Thanks! Dan

Glad you have explored Eastwood but you need more time to explore here. Being a local , I recommend the following food choices for everyone. The best BBQ dish in Canton (Fusion) Cafe is the roast duck rice noodles soup ( 焼鴨河). The duck skin is crispy & tasty. Bread top is very commercialism. Try the Cranberry cream cheese bread in the bakery shop named Bao Bao ( opposite of Post office). Baked with healthy & good quality of ingredients. For unique Taiwanese meals or snacks, you can try Hungry Pauline. I like to eat their salty soy bean soup (咸豆漿)& red sticky rice pork flake roll (肉鬆飯糰.). For a good Vietnamese bread roll (Banh mi), there’s one near SuperFresh Veg shop next to the Pharmacy. It offers many home cooking ingredients to put into the bread roll? Final tips, I will go to Noble House seafood restaurant for Yum Cha & dinner. Keep eating :)

SO MUCH IN EASTWOOD! CHINESE SIDE: Bao Bao Bakery (6 Progress Avenue, Chinese side) is another great bread place. It's next to two competing BBQ places too. Tan Viet is okay. There's Gia Hoi a few doors down (3 Vietnamese places in a row, almost). And Tonyon is THE Chinese supermarket, it was the first to be there. KOREAN SIDE: Hukuya is excellent, Jonga Jip is where Koreans I know go to, 10000 Lab is great for coffee, pastry and study with WiFi, LaVigne Yes!, etc etc. And what's often forgotten, Eastwood is the place where the Granny Smith apple was discovered by Maria Ann Smith, by accident.

@JaniceFung5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much I’d love to do one on Cabramatta! If you can give me some recommendations that’d be awesome ☺️🙏
@TeamConspiracyyy5 жыл бұрын
Janice Fung Yay! First, some Cabra house rules: 1. Much like Eastwood, please don’t drive here. Anxiety levels will be higher than your cholesterol levels after all the food you will consume 😂 If you do plan on driving, I recommend parking at the Fisher St multi-level parking (on the less busy side of Cabra, also known as the Cambo side) and walking over the railway bridge. 2. Come with an empty stomach and bring some friends so you can try a bit of everything. 3. I know you’re a coffee fan so ignore the seedy men sitting outside most of the cafes and get your sweet Vietnamese caffeine hit from Cafe Nho👌🏻 Now for food... 1. Banh mi thit (pork roll) at KK bakery. Ask for extra pate because you know how it is 😉 2. Pho dac biet at Pho Tau Bay - make sure you ask for sate sauce to add to your sriracha/hoisin meat dip 🔥 3. DIY rice paper rolls at Phu Quoc (next door to Pho Tau Bay). Choose the combination DIY dish so you get sugar cane prawns, grilled pork, fried spring rolls and other goodies to stuff in your rice paper. 4. Viet/Chinese baked goods at A&A Cake shop - go for the egg tarts, steamed pork buns and sesame buns. 5. Beef jerky, fried bananas, assorted fruit juices at Kaysone Sweets. My personal fav is the dried beef jerky (sweet) 6. Wash it all down with 3 for $5 sugar cane juice at Thu Phung N. Ask for your drinks takeaway so you get sealed plastic cups instead of foam cups (you know for the environment n dat) 7. Boba at anywhere along John St. there are literally a million boba shops in Cabra 😂 take your pick I could literally go on forever but I think that’s a solid start haha. If I catch you filming, I’ll be sure to say hello 🙋🏻♀️☺️ Good luck!

i hate when bakeries wrap their pastries and all in plastic. they could wait to see if the client needs to wrap it to go or not. it's a bake! it should be "breathing" with no wrapping at all...what a waste of plastic! plus, it makes it all look too "industrial" when maybe was handmade and so fresh from a few hours ago...
