Okay, so it's been a veeeeeeeeery long time since I've played MTG, but given that the faerie was a creature, does that not bypass the cost increase of Grand Arbiter? I recall there being a difference between creatures and spells like instants, sorceries, enchantments, artifacts, etc.

Cards like this are why I have the card silence in my deck. 1W, instant: Target player cannot cast spells this turn. I've literally never used it for an optimal play. I've only ever used it when someone made me angry, like I would be if I couldn't play my 4 drop with tempo.

I made a Grand Arbiter commander deck nearly a decade ago, and have played it only once. My friends would probably be fine if I brought it out occasionally, but with him as commander and a bunch of RTR Azorius lock-down, I could just feel the mood of the table grind to a halt.
