Beavers are standardly considered a keystone species, which means that they create and maintain conditions and equilibrium for the ecosystem and do more to maintain the ecosystem than other species within that system. Beavers are extra cool because they actually build things rather than just create ecosystem-enhancing effects by, say, what they eat or how they accidentally affect the soil. Just thought I would try to give a little attention and love to Zack's tangent on beavers.

@@xvillalon1Absolutely! As I've gotten older (37), I've realized that being able to hang out with my friends in person is a huge boon to my mental state. I'm blessed to be a part of a small, I guess "boutique" gym that specializes in various strength sports, where everyone knows each other, shares training tips and what not with each other, and overall just hang out and push each other to improve and grow in our chosen crafts (Oly lifting for me, thanks to Zack, who I learned about through Chris). I spend most of my free time there or with my family, even if it's just to hang out, and sometimes ask myself if there's anything else I'd rather be doing at that moment. The answer, unless there's some sort of life obligation that needs doing, is an emphatic "No!". I've lost too many friends and loved ones in my life to not prize the precious time that we have left, because as we all know, "tomorrow is promised to no one." Let your loved ones know. "Why is that person wearing a gi and this person's wearing leggings?"

@@yoeyyoey8937It's a long story. I have been strength training since I was 7yrs old. I was an athlete. My education is in Cardiac Rehab Therapy and Massage Therapy. I live in a mountain sports community. There was a gym here that had a "coach" who was constantly injuring athletes. They would come to me for bodywork. I would explain to them about why they were getting wrecked from their workouts instead of improving their performance. I eventually started training them.

I played Rugby in University. I started in the backs, and the size I put on in offseason training basically required my move into the forwards. I got bigger, stronger and heavier, at the expense of some elusiveness as a smaller player. That change was all manifested in the weight room. Running on the pitch and doing passing drills with the rest of the backs was never going to put on 25lbs to my frame in a million years. There's more often then not, a correct tool and procedure to achieve a specific outcome, in my experience.

I wasn't a rugby player at all to be honest. I was in good shape and training daily at the campus gym. Coach asked me to practice. I was like 185lbs ish first year. The gym was just fun for me, not really work, or a specific goal. Just got bigger and stronger fast I guess. Couple years of lifting, dinking, and practice I was like 230 with the same body fat roughly. I'm not from a Country with a big rugby scene, obviously. I started out as cone for players to run around, got subbed into wing/outside center, and ended up starting at #8 a few games my last year at school.

12:56 - I don't love hip thrusts (in the gym 😏). They read to me as an afterthought, an accessory movement for heavier compound lifts, and a bit of an ego lift once you're good at em. Also gives the limbs a rest if you're still working the glutes. BUT, the value of a hip thrust is obvious. The value of whatever dumbbell kata that guy was doing? Not obvious to me at all. I often dance for a warm-up. Sometimes I get cheeky and hold a couple 5's in each hand. But I don't call that my workout.

Being involved in the fitness industry and fitness related academia in the last 10 years I can’t agree more strongly, I’ve seen people flock to these charlatans because it makes them feel special and abandon legitimate trainers just to regress, it’s sad seeing religious cult and scam like tactics beat solid tested information, classic appeal of exclusivity and sacred knowledge and purposely going against established conventions to create the feeling of “we are not like everyone else, we do the secret shiiiiit”.

When I hear the words "functional" and "integrated" when referring to training, they're a massive red flag. Not to hate on anyone's approach to fitness, but I almost exclusively hear it from people who basically want to say "here's how to get fit / big / healthy without actually doing anything, please buy my e-book." At this point I'm convinced they're codewords used by charlatans to self-identify.

Well, i dont think anyone argues that building more muscles and strenght will make you, yourself a better athlete. But the point the first guy made is that muscularity and strenght is not what defferenciates the better athletes. Which is true. Natural talent, speed, agility, coordination and balance is what makes good athletes. Some people can build all the muscles they want, if they dont have great body awarness or coordination, they will never reach the level of someone with natural talent that does not have a six pack and shredded muscles

Finally! He does a proper and deliberate warmup, concentrating on technical mastery and being analytical AFTER the rep! Most importantly, NO STRAPS at all! Dylan would only have encouraged you to push beyond your current capability and never truly challenge yourself! (which is why nearly all of your lifting in Japan / Korea you felt the need to stay "relevant" with your peers by using straps on singles). I realize that I may not be your "target audience" in terms of age /experience etc... But I would MUCH rather see a session like this than all the EGO sessions done with Dylan or Sika etc... one day we will train together and you will see!
