Hi Danny ,I was the proud owner of your Rickenbacker ,I sold it to tony who then passed it on to you ,i bought it from a bankruptcy auction some years ago and Gordy from Rudy had played it but I can't confirm if Mickey would have ever used it ,it did come from an auction in England and was property of Kenny Jones estate at a time so I'm sure there's a lot of history behind it ,and if I could have put more proof behind it I probably would still own it ,hope this helps a bit ,ps undertones where and still are a great band along with SLF ,,regards pete

I always think of the Undertones and the Buzzcocks as similar bands. Neither would be considered punk now, but I remember when punk wasn't defined by such a narrow vision. They are both punk bands to their core. Both could write a catchy tune and thoughtful lyrics that spoke to young people at the time (And I should imagine still do today). Great attempt to capture the spirit of the band. The Undertones were vital to the whole of Northern Ireland and opened the door for so many bands and musicians from there. It's good to see Fergal Sharkey still close to his punk roots. If river and waterway activism and caring about your environment isn't punk, I don't know what is.

When I got home, she always vacuumed and washed the dishes. We always played “Wednesday Week” as her theme song. You beat me to it, although I like them both. I was going to leave a comment saying Stiff Little Fingers is another Northern Irish band who came out during the troubles and represented 70s Punk in an authentic way, and as much as I love bands like Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Clash, Ramones they couldn’t. because The Undertones and Stiff Kittle Fingers were living in a war zone (to be fair to The Ramones growing up in Queens NYC isn’t the safest either). Anyway The Undertones aren’t the only ones.
