Is This The Most Underrated RPG On PS1?- Digimon World 3 (Redux)

Hello lads, ladies, gents, ladetts, whoever and what ever. Today I decided to remake one of my videos from about a year ago, in Digimon world 3. It is a pleasant surprise to see a Digimon World 3 video in 2024. This is probably my favorite digimon game and it brings me a lot of nostalgia. This video was well made! I hope you have fun with the following games!

It's weird that bearmon wasn't given a proper evolution line and only had grizzlymon as an evolution.

The same can be said of Patamon who has Angemon as an evolution.

@@pn2294 Okay but you can KIND of see (not really) where they were going with it in terms of the whole wings and orange hair (again a bit of a stretch I know) and at LEAST Angemon was consistent with it's next form magneangemon followed by Seraphimon.

Did I complete this game? No. Did I like it? Yeah! And I like how the overworld sprites and backgrounds look straight out of Battle Network.

Correction on the blast mechanic: It will give you a full heal and digivolve you to ONE rank higher than where your digimon was battling at, Rookie blasts to Champion, Champion to Ultimate, Ultimate to Mega and Mega will become a DIFFERENT Mega depending on the mega they're in, and usually it's a blast into the family they're in (Patamon>Angemon>MagnaAngemon>I think Seraphimon don't quote me on this). It's akin to FF9's Trance, since it gives the signature ability of the digimon they blast into (EG: MagnaAngemon gets Gate of Destiny), which they USUALLY learn at high levels and it's a free attack for the few turns you Blast for. And it never blasts you when you want it and you'll 9 times out of 10 blast in a random encounter instead of a boss where you need it. But otherwise, it's a fine (If extremely grindy and punishing) game with a leveling curve that is more a sharp 90 degree mountain than anything.

There is items to make the blast grow faster. I make sure im done grinding and use those items to get almost full before a boss fight.

Oh man the nostalgia! Back in the day Digimon Tamers was still airing on TV and I started with the Maniac pack thanks to Guilmon! Also I got Agumon by total chance and I defeated the final boss by spamming Terra Force and Final Purification lol.

I have Japanese versions of Digimon World 1 and 2 gonna have to pick this up sometime. Etemon is my favorite Digimon. He's just such a likeable character.

I love this one, and just played the american version in my childhood. I tried to play on a emulator in my phone a few years ago and when I was in the post game, my save just crashed. I didn't knew what time was the last possible to upgrade the legendary weapons, so I would work harder to meet the digimon league. I need to play this again.

if you use a lot of quicksaves yeah the game crashes and i got the "blue tiles of death"

@@servantofisis yeah its a common bug that happens on emulators unfortonately, if you can save and load normal your data is safe but if the squares start to get in the way then its bye bye save file

To me it has stellar presentation and nice music, but it suffers from what all PS1 Digimon World games suffer to an extent, too much grinding. It also doesn't help the fetch quests you need to do to progress can get so obtuse you're not figuring them out on your own.

my only problem with this game is the backtracking and having no "repel" but aside from that GOD I LOOVVEE THIS GAME SO MUCH

I never got too into parts 1 and 2, but 3 is the one that really lept out at me. I just wish it would have been a more traditional, story based RPG, and less of a Pokemon style game.

as much as like to love this game when i bought it (after having played FF 7-9, Pokemon of course, Dragon Quest Monsters, Wild Arms, and so on) but the game was JUST SO SLOW ... the battle animations were way to slow (the stupid fall down, get up and then the hp is ticking down) or me

Yeah it is rough that is for sure. Its why I play it using an emulator these days so I can speed it up to make my life better haha.

@@Karlec46 yeah but if they had removed the "jump to enemy hit enemy jump back, enemy falls down, get's up and lp gauge goes down" the game would be SOOO much better :D

There are so many things disappointing with the game, but hell, this was peak digimon way back when... now if only the game wasn't an entire fetch quest and going for hours on end walking, I wouldn't mind playing it again. This is at the top of my list, titled: childhood games that I want to mod and fix bugs on.

It is definitely due to get a remake in my opinion. It could be a really good game even today if they fixed the quality of life stuff. Dont even need to change much about the visuals as I think they still look great.

@@Karlec46 definitely... like, giving weapons and armor, and other stuff a place in the game. As is, the only thing that really matters are levels and your stats; also, we can do away with resistances having to be trained, get that per level at a fixed rate or give it exclusively to equipment.

My only problem with this game was leveling up the digivolutions, especially some of the more powerful ones, since it took forever, i spent more time grinding than I did the actual story, so from now on when I replay this, I get to a certain point then swap over to a save that has my digimon with their digivolutions fully leveled and ready to go. I like everything else in the game, the story, music, it's just that one aspect I hate.

i played this a lot when i was a kid. I really love the music, ambient, digimons, the whole world. Even the card game in there. but... as an JRPG.... dude is "backtracking the game" Good game, not good jrpg. totally prefer digimons story o sleuth. welp, after playing almost every digimon game (except the wondersan) Mi favourite is is the carg game of psx and the Re:digitize decode

Old game, nice game... would recommend using mods or something to speed up the grinding as it suffers from some of the old RPG problems... meaning that some of the games had more grinding because every game back then had it that way. Would enjoy an updated remake of the game with modern improvements.

It was fun, but this one, like 1, 2, and 4 suffers a lot from the whole, bloat, problem, of its peers at the time. The story is only, if you get rid of all the random encounters, about 2 hours long, maybe a little less, but the game itself, thanks to those random encounters, takes several dozen to play thru, especially as it loves to suddenly jump up the levels of the enemies you're facing, including about midway through hitting you with Megas out of nowhere. That being said, it's still got a more interesting story than either of the World games before it, and most of the ones after it, as the 3 DS games were pretty much just tournament fighting as the story, with a sudden shift into saving the world in one of them, whereas 4 was...something else, and the remake of 1 kept the original story it had.

I use duckstation, I can't remember my exact settings, but I do have a pretty beefy computer. I am pretty sure I set it up to try to rin everything at 60 if possible I just forget how I did it haha

Digimon World 2003 (the PAL version) runs at 50fps and at a slower speed internally like most PAL games of the time. Though if it’s just the 3d section maybe it’s your computer or emulator.

This is not underrated it was one of the top 10 best rpg psx have The story the battle the stats build the side story the music is perfect The only downside is the slow loading time
