Good for service work, its cheap and fairly reliable

I have that exact same set-up. The problem I've found is, I spent quite a bit of effort to square up the blade to the work, and it cut very crooked. I had to cut and adjust, on several pieces of scrap, to get it to cut square. It is now WAY out of square to get it to cut square. I use it because I still like it, just don't expect it to be GREAT coming from harbor freight.

Completely agree, there's a LOT of potential places where this can be out of square. It's a good set up to be able to do a lot of things. It's a Swiss Army knife. It may do a lot of things, how well is up for debate!

I have one paired with the bauer saw. Love the idea but I've never been able to get it to stop drifting when i cut. It'll drift out .5in when cutting 2x2 square tube....cant ever get 90deg.

I have wander when I'm pushing too hard through the workpiece. Lower feed and some cutting oil helps.

retro fit that upper assembly to an old chop saw base.....

That's an option, albeit, a fair bit of fabricating to make that work correctly.

With Harbor Freight..."you buys your ticket, you takes your chances"! Other than certain elements of their product offering, HF poor quality is only "exceeded" by many of the Chinese "garbage vendors" operating on Amazon and youtube...this coming from someone that has probably made $3000 in HB purchases over the years...I'm disappointed with my HB purchase more often than not, be it poor assembly quality, poor design, or inferior/improper product material selection issues. Their rediculously brief warranty on most items speaks volumes about how confident THEY are about much of what they sell! By the way ...Thanks for doing the video. As for the product...I'll pass! Looks like another "less than precision" tool that would ruin projects and cause ongoing headaches.

The Harbor Freight of 20 years ago is a very different place than the Harbor Freight of today. Yes, they still sell cheap stuff that won't last, they also sell some stuff that's pretty decent. I've done me research and due diligence before buying bigger tools as Harbor Freight and I have yet to be disappointed. That may be due to the level of research before buying, or maybe a shred of luck, but I feel I've got my moneys worth on many things like my Compressor and welder. My personal opinion is that this is pretty good, and with a watchful eye (like any cutting tool) and a little experience it'll produce good results. Considering the next step for a horizontal bandsaw is far more money, I can make this work and do what I want it to do at this price point.
