Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Congrats on the your new equipment and the start of a new chapter in OWB's history. I'm familiar with Japa's sister company products in the Hakki Pilke range and the Scandinavians know a thing or two about wood processing. Initial impressions of the 405 are very favourable, particularly the system for clearing the splits onto the conveyor, which is often a challenge on other systems. The pressure will be on you to source correct sized wood in sufficient quantities to increase production, justify your expenditure and to ensure that you "sweat the asset". Hopefully we will learn more about the financial in due course as we are aware that costs rise extremely sharply onnce you exceed 12 to 14 inch diameter capability.

I have already noticed my "365" logs are too small for the 405's perfect split system. They will go thru it fine but there is too much waste...the 365 is faster with the smaller wood. I am going to try the traditional knife in the 405 and see how it goes.
@JCWren2 жыл бұрын
Looks like Japa needs to rework where the fork points are on the 405. That thing looked seriously heavier on one side.
@OutsidewithScheib2 жыл бұрын
It is but they are enclosed pockets. There was no way that thing was going to fall off unless the whole machine tipped over.

That's what I was more concerned about. Telehandlers aren't any near as stable side to side as they are front to rear.

The Japa 405 is a great addition to OWB. Looks like you’ll have to find a diesel powered refrigerator to hold the Dr. Pepper while you wait for the perfect split to go through all of those 14” logs you can now run through the machine.
@ohiowoodburner2 жыл бұрын
The perfect split is VERY good on big logs. My 365 was faster on the smaller logs but I have yet to put the traditional knife in the 405 yet. I have a lot to figure out on this thing still

Al, I've given up watching "In The Woodyard", since you made your initial appearance operating the 22MB. I am highly disappointed that no one (excluding yourself) can effectively operate it, and its producing too much that requires re-splitting. Its way too complicated, big and clumsy. Delivering that 22MB was a failure!
@ohiowoodburner2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Al!!!
@aldredske61972 жыл бұрын
@@garylaszewski7380 sorry you feel that way. I have only ran a firewood processor 4 hours of my whole life. So I'm sorry I didn't live up to you stringent quality. I'm sure you can do better You need to understand that none of the other people including Chris have never ran any equipment more than a small tractor. Chris will get better when he gets a bunch of hours under his belt. Also I do believe that Andrew is going to be sending a 12 and 16 way wedge so hopefully it will cut way down on the amount of resplits needed. Wish you would give a man a chance before drawing your conclusion.

G’day Al, hope you are well my friend 😁😁
@garylaszewski73802 жыл бұрын
@@aldredske6197 Al, you were the only one that could effectively run it! Good job! It was painful to watch others operate it! Hence, I quit watching. However, I did watch the current video, and observed it was heavily edited. For a brand new $120k machine to produce this poor of a showing, with 1/3rd of the output requiring re-splitting, is a huge disappointment. Would you estimate 1/2 hour with a tractor bucket or excavator, to change out the splitting wedge to a 12 or 16 way? Versus 1 minute for the JAPA 405? When one sees the $60k JAPA 405 hit a grand slam (Ohio Wood Burner) on its first use, with no resplitting needed, I just shake my head. The 22MB, is only suited for a large commercial wood processing operation, with an expert (Skidder Kev) operator. Its way overkill for In The Woodyard. Even Skidder Kev would likely get tired of all those levers. He's a demon on his 48C with the joystick.

Okay, an overall nice machine. However, you are losing time with the saw; to slow as compared to other wood processing machines. As neat as the wood splitting process is, compared to other machines which split all the wood in one stroke, anything over two reciprocations would cost me time. The shaker to get rid of loose pieces of bark and dirt is a big plus. Sorry, but I'd be tempted to make some modifications on the saw to speed up the cut-off operation. Thanks for a good show of what this machine can do.
@ohiowoodburner2 жыл бұрын
It has the traditional knives. I will be using them and filming. I have never had an off-set processor before but I think that slows things down some especially when I'm not very good a running it just yet. The saw motor and the splitter on the 405 is WAY more powerful than the 365.

Congratulations Joe on the new processor! I'm certainly glad this is all coming together for you because not only are you deserving of the success you are having, but also we get these great videos to watch and learn from too. This upgrade will push you past 20k subscribers soon. Man that perfect split is an absolute game changer, so darn cool. Now if japa could just come up with an automatic stacker.

@@ohiowoodburner First time I’ve seen a processor with a box type blade on it. Perfect for your type of business. No extra splitting required, and the firewood is super clean with you using 2 cleaning systems.

Congratulations Joe. This is going to be fun to watch. Can I still bring all my logs over for you to split? Hopefully I will be able to pick up my commercial splitter this weekend. I purchased it several months ago and the wait has been a long one!

I live in north east Ohio also, in Brunswick, I would like to come out for a day and give you a hand and check out your operation, i have a small operation, i got about 6 to 8 log trucks of logs cut with a chainsaw, i have a 37 ton rugged made splitter, i use a hay elevator to put it in my dump trailer and take it to my stacking area, but I can't keep up, been selling wood for 23/24 winter i don't have much left for this winter so I would like to get in touch with you and set up a day, you are probably about a hour a from me how can I get in touch with you i have a road side stand and sell local also.

Hi Larry. I only do delivery so I don't have people over. The rugged made splitters are good but the super spliiter is amazing. There is an amish man below Wooster that makes a version called the Flack Hill. Look him up and see if you can get one. Awesome machine

Archie! I am looking forward to seeing your new kiln setup! You are high on my list. You process firewood unlike most everyone in the US. The Brits know how to do firewood! Best wishes.
