I appreciate seeing a lightweight rifle perform at such long distances without compromising accuracy. This might just be a game-changer for hunters and long-range shooters alike!

Not saying it's a bad option, but Savage themselves (or the marketing team) is fudging the numbers. It's closer to 6lbs which means there are a few options that are the same weight or lighter out there.

@@22plinkster... Hey Twenty-Two, I had to do a little back and forth at the end of your presentation because you made a hand gesture toward the rifle as you said Creedmoor is your favorite, making me wonder what I heard at the beginning. Sure enough you said that the featured rifle is chambered in 6.5 PRC. My phone screen is too small and my eyes are too old to have seen any information on the box when shown. My question now is: 6.5 PRC or 6.5 Creedmoor?

Everything I showed you that I wanted on and for a rifle, you said you were building one the exact same way.. An you said you were going to have on that gun and you did great video, sir. Excellent showing. Never fired a center-fire, rim and air mostly. I do love the data of internal and external ballistics though, it's my gun passion. Great rifle by the shots and man it's light. I actually said to myself little more windage for the spin drift at 1000 and you dialed it in. Glad I'm on getting to know my calculations.

That scope cam is pretty helpful in diagnosing recoil follow through. The gun keeps shifting to the left after each shot. If you work on your hold so the the gun recoils straight back, you should notice significant improvement.

"Kentucky windage" and "you are going to get yourself in trouble" - there is a time and place for everything. If you have the luxury of a stationary target and consistent wind, then yes adjust your scope windage to be spot on. But if you're dialed in and the wind changes, and you adjust your scope for that, and the wind changes again, you'll be chasing the changes or waiting for your initial conditions to return. Not good if your target is moving or might disappear. Definitely dial in your windage for calm conditions but if you feel a sudden 10mph or so gust and you need to make the shot right then and there, use the windage marks or mil-dots on your scope. That's what they're there for. I notice your scope didn't have any. Just my opinion; I've been shooting my .50 BMG M82A1 at 1000 yards for 35 years.
@joseywales825710 күн бұрын
@PalKrammer, This is a serious question, hope you and others respond. I have tested scopes for various manufacturers across the globe, I only use .50 bmg both auto and bolt. Once upon a time I was instructed by a vision doctor/bmg shooter who told me to limit no more than 7 shots daily out a bolt because the recoil damages the retinas. Auto bmg rifles have far less recoil. Any one out there suffer any damage or witnessed damage in other shooters. This is why DOD is switching to the 338. Again this is a serious question, for serious experienced shooters ONLY.

@@joseywales8257 Posting this reply from Pal Krammer: "During my years in the .50 BMG community I have not heard of any retina damage - but I must add my only experience is in shooting 1000 yard .50 BMG rifles in FCSA (Fifty Caliber Shooters Association) matches, which is a limited type of environment. Since 1990 I have shot my Barrett M82A1 and I have shot a McMillan bolt gun. First, the semiauto M82A1 has much more recoil than the competition bolt guns due to the way the FCSA game is played: my 1990's M82A1 is "only" 33 pounds and I shoot it either off a bench or prone on the ground. Either way, I am using the bipod and the butt of the rifle is against my shoulder. Recoil from the M82A1 is a long vigorous shove. It is not sharp or painful, but it is a strong shove. Check out the short video on my channel to see this. I do have the early style brake; newer ones are said to be more efficient - but newer M82A1's are also lighter and shorter than mine. The bolt guns in FCSA matches are a different story: their weight is close to 50 pounds (the max weight for Heavy Class). The rifles sit on a concrete bench with their forend snuggled into a thick rest which sits atop a Ransom Rest Rifle Master (this device has wheels and dials for elevation - check it out); the rear of the rifle sits very snugly into an equivalent padded buttstock rest which can be adjusted for windage. Usually the scope is zeroed for calm conditions and left alone: any changes for conditions are made on the rests themselves. The recoil from a 50-pound bolt gun, especially with their efficient brakes, is a lot lot lot less than my Barrett. Here is the other thing: some shooters do not even put the butt of their bolt gun up against their shoulder when firing: they let it free-recoil along the pad. It moves about an inch - maybe two at most - due to the weight of the rifle and the friction from the snug pads in the rests. That is exactly how I shot the McMillan. No recoil at all against my shoulder! Some competitors do have lighter bolt guns that they put against their shoulder - the recoil from those might be similar to my Barrett - I do not know. An FCSA match is two days: for each day we shoot five scoring shots on each of three targets for 15 total scoring shots, 30 scoring shots for the match. This doesn't include sighters. So competitors certainly fired more than 15 rounds per day during a match (mostly sighter shots). In my last match a few months ago I fired 54 shots; others shot more. I've been to many matches in 30+ years; I have not heard of damage to anyone's vision at all. Now with age, the viscosity in the fluid in your eye changes and it will actually tug on your retina. You will see flashes of light and floaters when moving your eye. That has happened to me and my friends (who do not shoot large rifles) - it's a byproduct of aging. When that happens, your opthamologist will want to see you immediately just to check whether your retina is detaching or not. In my case: just normal aging, no detachment. With a bolt gun you needn't shoulder it at all if you have the rests. If you're an accuracy-addict, that's the way to go." Hope you are able to see it.

@robinsok10 күн бұрын
I wish he would have. Because the Achilles heel of these rifles for a long time is the terrible feeding and action binding when mag feeding. They claim some new coating on the bolt and action of this one to improve it, but I've already seen videos of people having the same issue. It's a bummer because for premium components, the price on this is actually pretty solid.

@@Averagedude73 sadly, it makes sense if you know the thing binds up feeding rounds, and you don't want to show off the poor feeding of the (potentially free?) $3,000 rifle. @reloadingfun21 күн бұрын
@jesusisalive3227 you're right. that's why i didn't say all. unless there is an issue, 99% of factory rifles are capable of hitting what is basically a 2moa target at 1000 yards with factory ammo. if not, it's the shooter that can't. showing this rifke hitting a silhouette at 1000 yards doesn't really show much.
