Is this the UK?! Lake District, Winter vanlife

HOW IS THIS THE UK? How has it taken us 30 years to come to the Lake District. Honestly the past week felt like we had shipped Olive the bus to New Zealand. We will most definitely be back. The park ups we had alone was some of the best we have had since starting vanlife. We hope you join us in this video where we share the best spots & what it’s like to travel the lake district in the winter time. We have heard that visiting in peak season is super busy everywhere so bare that in mind when planning your trip.
Places we visited
Windermere. Pretty town on the water. Amazing free park up between Oct-April. Full of cafes, quaint shops & restaurants. Its also home to the Beatrix Potter world. You can hire boats for the day on Lake Windermere too. Local market every Sunday.
Langdale Pikes. Gorgeous hiking area. We did the walk up to Stickle Tarn lake, it took us 1.5 hours to reach the lake at the top, quite a difficult climb as its steep but well worth the views. Lots of different hiking routes to suit all abilities. We parked in the National Trust carpark at the bottom, it was £7 for 4 hours, bit of a rip off. Cash only
Wast Water. Gorgeous lake with breathtaking free park ups for during the day. You can’t stay in this area ovenight but we stayed just down the road in a layby, then headed there early to enjoy a full day parked there. The views from your van is just unreal. Picnic & cold water swim kind of day.
Buttermere. Lovely flat walk around both lakes. We did the smaller lake once you drive through Buttermere village, it took us 2 hours to walk around. Lovely views. Take a flask & some sandwiches.
Derwentwater. Stunning hikes around here. Lovely towns on the lake too to explore. Lots of free park ups with gorgeous views.

Windymere.......love it Sam. I'm sure it's been called that many a time. The Lake District is most probably the only place in the UK that I haven't visited and is on the list to visit at some point. Looks like the snow has arrived for your journey to Scotland so enjoy, and be safe.

I was in Windmere last week as well. It's a beautiful place. If anyone goes, check out William Wordsworth Daffodil Garden. It is located in the center of the town. Also pick up some of the wonderful gingerbread made there. It's a lovely place. I was on my way to Scotland, maybe ill see that video too.
