Imagine walking around and then you hear this noise in the near distance. Would you run? I would. I wonder if the animals come near it...

It is on the top of a pretty remote hill . . . so it is quite scary to approach. The sheep don't seem to mind though!

sounds kind of creepy....Not so much a "singing" tree, but more like a "mourning" tree for all the trees in the world that have been cut down....Or maybe the sound IS from the souls of those trees that have been cut down....

blookynose Woah that sounds like something out of a fantasy horror movie o.o

That's insane. Why would someone wanna build a structure that products eerie sounds?!

We do lots of unusual things in the name of art, I guess. This is both an artwork and a music composition at the same time.

Finally! A youtube video about this Panopticon that actually lets you hear the sounds it makes! Thank you!

Do you want to know a secret? I had to go back a second time to get the sound because the first visit there was zero wind!

Maybe it will attract the Aliens? I believe it is an amazing work of art. The UK is so talented in music especially! They came to Texas and helped them build one. Now if each State/Country would build one, there would be a unique communication of music going on. Just saying....

Hi Dave - great clip. Can I use your audio clip from this video? I have shot some drone footage of the Singing Ringing Tree and the audio would be just about right. My drone filming is non-commercial and purely a hobby. Of course, I will add a credit to you + link to this video. Thanks

It's an ugly eyesore and I very much doubt that the pipes have been "tuned". Did some piano tuner spend months carefully filing each tube to and exact length to the nearest 10 thousandth of an inch? I don't think so.
@EricNeuls5 жыл бұрын
Um actually yes, "Some of the pipes are primarily structural and visual elements, while others have been cut across their width enabling the sound. The harmonic and singing qualities of the tree were produced by tuning the pipes according to their length by adding holes to the underside of each." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singing_Ringing_Tree_(Panopticons)
