I decided to play some viewer levels recently...and what I got to play was possibly the WORST bean burrito level ever.

I was going to comment about that and explain the differences between modern, middle, and old English,but realized it probably wasn't worth the time. But yes, what a revelation that shouldn't be surprising, but is still disheartening.

I don't get why DGR has a 10 minute time limit per level? If he was doing that occasionally as a special challenge or something okay, but why make it the standard? He could tweak that and add the remaining time he had from the last level to the next level.

3:42 Come on, Dave, you weren't paying attention (again), not realizing the enemy still attacks you. He has that a lot "This level's bad, has softlocks", while he wasn't paying attention. He has ADHD, maybe that was the reason, but not the levels that had easy ways to avoid said softlocks. 20:44 ... I saw something else in that level's thumbnail ... no, nvm. Dave failing many times, while not trying stuff ... average DGR video/stream XD I said to myself "Maybe kicking the Koopas against those questionmark blocks?", but Dave was jumping around too much, and when he almost was done, he skipped Morton, haha! Thanks to Chris for a shorter version of that awful Bean Burrito level!

The thing about a softlock is that, even if it’s easy to avoid, there should always be a way out of it (even if it’s just a pit that the player can hurl themselves into), particularly after a checkpoint. That way, while failure can still have some consequences (needing to restart from the checkpoint; losing a life), the player can still make progress *within* the gameplay experience, rather than having to either leave that experience by opening the pause menu or experience a real-world penalty of having to wait potentially several minutes where you do not get to enjoy gameplay at all. It’s a shame, because otherwise it was a clever and fun little level. I hope the designer learned from the playthrough because they clearly have a lot of potential.

@@PaulFisher I know that's the community's standards, but i have an own mind, where levels can be good, even if they have softlocks. 1 Flaw = bad is such limited way of thinking. My point is that if he paid attention, he'd NOT be stuck there. And fireballferret8146, that's cuz he lost the SMB2 powerup by making that mistake.

Yes exactly:Beowulf is Old English, basically a variant of German; Chaucer is Middle English, hard to understand and with many alternate spellings, but after a while you might get the hang of it; meanwhile basically everything since the 1500s has been Modern English, from Shakespeare to Gaiman and everything in between.
