Nice to see you again Ben. When I moved my business into a unit many years ago I thought I would never afford it. The business then started to fly after a while I bought my own unit, even better. I sold it a few years later and was able to retire early. As for the winch rope accident we all learn from accidents. Me climbing big ladders for over 40 years. One day lack of attention and the ladder slipped away. Luckily I was only around ten feet up but landed flat on my back on top of the ladder. Long story short I survived with no major injuries but I was black and blue from the my knees all the way up my back to my neck. I had one day off work and went back to work with the aid of a walking stick. Nothing cures illness quicker than self employment. Take care. Oh by the way I love the music.

I’m a postie for RM and it’s a nightmare the lack of numbers on houses. Some roads are odd/even some run concurrent 1,2,3… These people are the first to complain if they get the neighbours stuff. Quite happy to put a door number on a bin though 🤔 Don’t get me started on named houses 😂

When I worked at a dealership as a driver, I went to a sister dealership to pick up a van to go in our body shop. Just before I opened the door to get in i noticed bugs inside it, it was infested with fleas.,Keys got handed back. New unit looks very smart mate. Onwards and upwards Ben

I used to be a delivery driver and that is the one thing that is most annoying, no house numbers on doors. "oh you got a nice looking new door, but what number are you". new builds are the worst for it, some even have deliveries for their houses when not even built yet, just a plot number.

Good to hear you are recovering. One question, the winch crept because the lever didn't get pulled back to where it should? If so have you tried eliminating the play in the system as it could happen again? I'm sure the unit will be great and you will do really well in the new unit.

Yeah it's going in for an overhaul this year, I don't really know how or why it did it, I can't replicate it, usually as soon as I release the button the lever snaps back to the middle, but that time it just didn't 🤷🏽‍♂️

Unit is looking good :) . Hopefully the bruises continue to heal . I've worked in patient transport for a long time ( pre sat nav being prevelent ) so I know the importance of house numbers and names being visible , but even now looking on google maps people are blanking their names and numbers out on there it seems , doesn't help anyone especially if there's an emergency .

House numbers should be compulsory, but shops are the worst. Especialy the ones that have a delivery bay that is in the next street but just give you something like: Shoes the Chemist, High St, Shytesville. But High St is pedestrianised. Made me so peed off, glad I didn't drive full time, just helping friends out. Happy to see you are "recovering" from your mishap.

I deliver for Tesco. It should be law like in some other countries that your house number is clearly displayed and readable from the road, I often find myself suggesting edits on google maps and correcting house number positions as usually it will be me returning to that address the next week. There is a special place in the sea for people who name their house.

Example Looking for rose cottage can't find it you call customer who don't answer unknown numbers , when they finally answer you say you can't find you and they say oh it's number 4 but we call it rose cottage and don't have a sign made me so angry if it's number 4 put number 4 .

Synthetic tow ropes used on most U.K. tugs rather than the old wire rope.

Most tugs use a wire tow line which has a synthetic sacrificial section which goes through the fairlead I personally don’t like the synthetic winch lines as the main problem in my opinion is because of their construction you cannot se if the centre weave has any damage because the top layer of braided nylon covers it where if a central strand on a wire line breaks then some of the broken strands stick out and usually make the wire rope feel like a hedgehog the tugs where I work change their lines twice a year regardless of whether they look damaged or not and they are towing in 178 metre tankers and container ships

"I'm on that road near Lyneham, do you know which one" yeah mate there's 200 odd roads around there but Ill use my psychic abilities to know which one your on! I've gotten to a point where I just tell them to send me their live location on WhatsApp 😂 I ask for a what3words for houses with names now too! The Unit looks well smart - You'll worry about the cost of the unit at first but it will make you more money than it costs if you run it right. I got myself a small unit and I now charge to store motorbikes in there - Best thing I ever did.

Was a coal man in a former life and the worst was when the ticket had a house name.because u could guarantee they didnt have a sign. When i mentioned it to a customer they said that they liked their privacy and a light bulb went off when i said what it u need an ambulance and u r alone and couldnt get to the door. The only customer i had that i thought was justified with privacy was i delivered sean beans coal😂😂😂

2 things Ben mate. 1 The synthetic rope just a question if the rope gets a cut or slight damage from say pulling a car out of a ditch or something and there barbed wire and the rope catches it. Would that make the rope unsafe. Only reason is I'm looking at changing my winch cable soon as its got a but of damage on. I've had it 10yrs so it's about time I think. Just wanted your input bud. And the second thing is I'm sure if you opened a go fund me or something for your units over heads I'm sure a fair few of your loyal fans would put in £10 a month. That's kinda what the buy me a coffee thing is mate, where you can pay towards the channel. With regards to the winchline, for the sort of stuff I do you really need one with a tough outer sheath, I use the armourline ones, basically if the outer sheath becomes damaged and you can see the inner core then it needs to be replaced. If you're unlikely to be dragging through brambles etc then a normal knitted type synth line will be fine.
