Is This The WORST MISTAKE Bassmaster Has EVER Made

Has B.A.S.S. made the worst mistake in their recent history? The Bassmaster Elite 2025 schedule was released today and hidden inside the press release was one of the more controversial rules in a very long time. The no-information rule for Bassmaster Elite anglers and fisherman would go into effect at the first of the year. Why would they not make this an immediate rule? Does Bassmaster listen to their anglers? This rule allows anglers to gain information on future waters that the tournaments will be on. Such as getting waypoints, spots, going fishing with guides and more, and it's a sore spot for many anglers who dislike this rule.

Selling waypoints is a black eye on the industry. There are guides that do this, and have done it for years. It makes tournament bass fishing look like a joke. Standards matter, polygraphs speak the truth, and BASS just took a big step backward in terms of credibility. Integrity matters, and this rule is diabolically in opposition to it.

No one angler is bigger than BASS. That being said everyone is going to get information one way or anymore prior to the cutoff. These are type A, extremely competitive personalities. I would absolutely do everything I could to give my self an edge (within the approved guidelines) I’m sure these professionals anglers getting to live out there dream will do the same.

Just a fact In 1990s I gave away many many way points With cane piles and brush piles off side of points on 2 different lakes And the pro ( not really but a paid customer) And the few won on set lakes Listen this way point and info been going on for 50 plus years Now I was shock when set pro reach out in the 90s and early 00s for set brush spots Hard hard to manage getting info No poly can fix that If I holler out hey Kevin Creek so and so is this or that while pumping gas That's hard to manage And yes I can give away all kind of stuff but u still have to catch them

We all like to think that our heroes, people in authoritarian positions in life, and pro’s of any sport are the best of the best. Morally superior with their judgement, self made…..hard working and dedicated, etc. But we all deep down know that whether it is deflating footballs, putting weights in fish, taking steroids, destroying competitors (even to the point of trying to assassinate them)…..change your sex to gain the advantage……it is not true. I think I like MLFs FFS plan the best. But either way, pro fishing does not have the same draw for me. I watch when I have time. But maybe that is a couple hours or so of an entire event. And I rarely watch NPFL. People call FFS cheating. Not sure where you draw your line, but bait companies copying others lures, telling someone that their waypoint from a tourney a year or so ago is fair game, yelling at locals to stay off the lake, releasing near dead fish, not practicing catch weigh release in hot summer months, fishing for bedded fish is certainly not good either. I think bedded fish is more of an impact that FFS due to impact to reproduction I wonder how Smith Lake will fish in the coming years I think the MLF version where they tried to take anglers to lesser known bodies of water and no practice was about as best could be done I saw a podcast this week where Jordan Lee was talking about MLF’s issues and this was why he left. Selective memory….you and over half the field left BASS for the same reason. I caught a fish this year during a local tourney. Hooked in tongue. Ended up dying in the livewell. Felt bad but asked a bunch of bank fisherman if they ate bass. One guy said yes and took it. I think it was the right thing to do. Maybe. Enjoying your videos. Hard to keep up with fishing drama without your help. Haha

I was so confused about this rule i get it now, but when was no info before, right after the schedule came out, i thought you could not get info at all and not fish 3 months before event, so originally i was like oh jan 1st is good. But you mind as well hand out trophy to the scoppers now, to be able to sit on the classic water for almost 4 months and gather up info, way points will be sold, things will be done shady, bass needs to wake up, mlf i think made the best decision of the 2, and i hope nplf rises up, Maybe kvd. Zona, etc are all leaving cuz they see the integrity of the sport leaving, i really thought bass was doing a good thing but man the screw the pooch on this, Steve i hope you got some sleep, great stuff,

Selling waypoints isn’t a tenth of the problem that FFS is. Integrity left the tournament circuit the second BASS and MLF declined to ban it and it will stay without integrity until FFS is gone for good

I get the emotion based around this topic but let's get in touch with reality. "Professional" tournament anglers are professional gamblers. Organizations like BASS are essentially casinos and they prefer gamblers that have the resources to spend a lot of money in their casinos over people that can't. Allowing people to buy their way into the "elite" field is a great way to vet potential long term customers, which is needed for the survival of the business. Let's face it, sponsorship for "professional" anglers is drying up for a multitude of reasons. BASS and MLF (and FLW before them) understand the financial advantages of having name anglers fishing their circuits. A guy like Trey Mckinney made an instant name for himself and he did it because he had extreme financial resources. That's good for BASS because people take interest in how he does in competition. Do you really expect BASS to care about what their older anglers think? They care about keeping fans interested in their product. Controversy sells, customers that have financial resources to high stake gamble are absolutely necessary for the survival of the organizations that run the "sport".

Idky the anglers haven’t just started the angler union and say hey guys set it up so that all anglers get to vote on everything and let the majority vote win or we ain’t fishing your league. They make more money on social media than winning anyway….. except for a few guys. Without anglers there’s no league. The anglers can still have the sponsors just like the KZbin anglers. Fans will still watch their favorite anglers. The how to videos are better than the bass live anyway. The anglers can start their own league and use their social media to broadcast on their channel and tell Bass to suck it till you guys start listening. But…. I think this week B.A.S.S. made it very clear that they're all in on FFS and the Young anglers. They don't care about the history of the sport or the older anglers in the sports. This information rule has completely changed the game. Every young angler who wins a tournament now will have an asterisk by their name. This committee slapped all the anglers that care about this sport across the face. The Classic is losing all of it's glory and it's getting worse and worse.

@@GetUrFishOn yes it is. It creates an unfair playing field in many ways. I think guys are going to jump ship and/or retire. BASS obviously doesn’t care because there’s another 100+ guys waiting for their chance. It has become a $$$ game now. It was one of the last true sports where $ didn’t matter as much in terms of being able to play.

Steve no offense but you need some sleep bro, what a busy bs day, i notice that one line but didn't really put much into it, but my thoughts schedule comes out and water off limits, till practice, or give the anglers a small window to fish them and then have them check in with bass, so if your caught then your banned

its called doing your research....if its within the rules its not cheating.....its just not liked by some....Its fishing...spots change and some get overused and sometimes there are no fish there... lakes change and spots change.... It's about the integrity of professional fishing. I understand, now your allowed to do it, and it isn't cheating, but this was a major issue last year, and it will be this year. Angler who has the most money, no family can spend the next three months fishing where the Classic is to gain more info than anyone. Respect your comment and thanks. Cheers!!

Pro anaglers have been getting info for as long as the sport has been around. They should just remove the no info rule altogether and let it be a free for all. At least everyone would be in the same boat.

This isn't a good decision at all. This is what a lot of the issues were last year with vets and rookies, and it was a quick a simple change to make. Cheers!!
