Scar has survived runs and bought cards while wearing armor. He gave up the bought cards and treasure and let Tango know his runs were invalid.

Magma blocks don't hurt you if you crouch, yes, even underwater. It's completely normal to be nerveous and miss it though.

And what’s more, you can breath in the bubbles they make. So unless you’re actively being chewed on by a ravager, it’s okay to pause for a moment to catch your breath, collect your thoughts, and figure out a plan for getting out of the situation.

Embers aren’t guaranteed drops. +10 embers means that you will have 10 more chances for embers to be released into the dungeon. You have to find them

Could be 10, could be 20, could be 2! Each dropper gets randomized individually, but with +10 you're basically guaranteed a decent amount.

No +10 isn't 10 chances of ember being released into the dungeon. It queues up 10 ember drops in the system and they get dropped slowly throughout the dungeon. And now you need to look for them you might find 0 you might find 10 it depends on your luck and also if the card plays early so you have enough time for all 10 drops to take place.

@@nimamaster6128 I’m sorry but you’re mistaken, I am unaware if each dropper has its own randomized or if it’s centralized but +10 is not guaranteed to be +10 embers. In Tangos streams he says he won’t change the cards, he will change the drop rates for balancing. I get why it’s confusing but it is a common misconception that it is a 1 to 1 correlation.

The quartz 39:16 is Tangos block when he does maintenance normally; he puts it over the barrel so no one can play

A few tips: 1. The compass will always flick around if you turn your camera. You need to check it by actually moving your character. If you point it straight forward and walk straight until the needle does a 180, then you will be standing on the block (maybe the adjacent one, it's not super precise). 2. Most of level 1 doesn't have verticality except for *the crypt.* The crypt (the non-icy castle tomb thingy) has 3 floors, one below and one above the entrance level. You got your artifact on the top level. That's all I can tell you about the map because I'm not a spoiler. 3. Over time, *hazard* -- signified by the red triangle on cards -- will generate. Hazard will close doors and bridges. The shreikers generate *clank* -- signified by the blue puff on cards. Clank will increase the heartbeat, make level 3 pretty much impossible, and vexes will start attacking you at max clank.

You are a great gamer, Ren. You should be proud of how great you are doing. When Cleo mentioned the game being vertical, she meant that each level has more than 1 floor. So look for stairs.

Cave diving is dangerous, but it might actually be worth it to try to dive to the bottom of the pit you drowned in in the first run again! There might be something interesting down there, who knows? You do have to keep really really good track of the twists and turns so you can find your way back up again, though, and that's likely to be tricky.

That first treasure would have taken you forever to find, even though you were right next to it :P Despite the embarrassing death, I'm impressed that you started to explore a secret so quickly when noone else is even thinking that way! Btw I think the "pay 2 win" ethereal card with +10 ember drops would be REALLY strong for getting started, as soon as you're confident enough to explore and make it out.

I would use it on the run before you are ready to try medium difficulty. You are more likely to get your artifact and get out if you are considering the next difficulty setting. The card you buy on that run should have you set for the next difficulty level.

The cards that give say "10 Frost Embers" or "4 Treasure" that means that the dungeon will "load up and start dispensing X currency" for you to find and collect. The same goes for Clank Block and Hazard Block, they add X amount of Blocking Events to be consumed as you trigger Clank or Block... When Tango is there he will have the Map area loaded and then the Map will display and update in real time as cards are played.

Every new run the active shriekers are randomized. So no need to remember where the shriekers are for your future runs. Just remember where you set off the shrieker in your current run and try not to set him off again.

Thanks Clio for sticking around. I was slightly lost on the egg thing before but after hearing Clio explain it I love the idea to have a co-op side quest. Where you drowned I think it was a special area below, but it's highly risky to get there. When burning under water you can hold shift and stand on the hot blocks to not be burned and breath with the bubbles.

10:48 for what it's worth, if it were me, i'd near max the sounds in game and use the deck to locally lower the overall volume down to preference. The sounds are absolutely vital for playing DO2. I'd say and i'm reasonably certain i'm not exaggerating that at least 40~55% of the input experience is audio with the rest (visual + action/motion + mechanical/redstone) fighting for the rest depending on the area you're in. Going in with bad audio is basically going to kill your round, several of the other Hermits kinda glooped on that account. jm2c

Things that you should know. That warning of feeding your things to the ravagers is there for when people forget stuff in the chests. You left your stuff in the chest so it activated. Also, the game has an intentional waiting time between runs in order to allow everything dropped inside to despawn. No chance of getting your items back. Impulse was allowed by the Game Master to take his beard inside for the lulz factor; if he lost it, no biggie. And, as you've noticed, win or lose, you die to exit. So always set your spawn. I think the current rate of remembering to set spawn is about 50% among hermits. On the things outside the room. There used to be a powder snow block a few blocks up to break the fall from the waiting room. My guess is that the powder snow block is now under the carpet, as that's how Tango has his drops set up to break the fall. Powder snow negates fall damage apparently. And the block of quartz is what Tango used to block the barrel as a way to indicate DO is under maintenance, so I guess he just left it there. Tango is so pleased with himself that he managed to make the entire game completely automated. As in he doesn't even need to restock for a long time. This is why anyone can play without him being there 24/7 like in the original one, where everything had to be set up at least daily. He's gone a long way and achieved so much incredible knowledge. And just so you don't feel so bad, you were wrecked by the MVP of DO: Tango's Cough. You'd be amazed at its death rate so far. True pro at chomping hermits. Tango needs to put a chart on each ravager death count. That would be the perfect shame wall for hermits. But congrats! You're the first one to dare go down that deathly pond and drown.

Ren, if you didn't know: Level 1 of DO2 ("The Frozen Caves") is basically the footprint of the original, but with up and down. DO2 isn't mega; it's not just omega. It's Oh- My- Freakin- Goodness - Mega!

Hey Ren! Some basic tips for DO: - Sneak blocks 2 clank (you can tell your clank by your heart beat speed. Clank does nothing until you get to max, then vex spawn) - Stability blocks 2 hazard (this is what causes traps to activate and corridors to block off as hazard gets higher) - Treasure Hunter and Ember Seeker will add treasure (coins, crowns, keys) and frost ember drop *attempts* into the dungeon. RNG determines how many drop and where for each attempt. - Cards are drawn roughly every 30 seconds. - Stumble cards are added to your deck every 2 minutes. These stop other cards from being played, and give you 2 clank. - Berries are super important. The more you jump-run, the more berries you'll need. - Hazard generates every 38 seconds. This will probably kill you (indirectly) more than clank, so there's a lot of strategy in if you want to sneak to avoid clank, or sprint as fast as possible to minimize hazard. - Clank will really kill you if you hover over a shrieker and trigger it over and over again. Make sure you sneak after hearing one so you don't double trigger.

So the first couple of runs were a little... rough, but you genuinely learned the layout of that first section faster than any of the other Hermits I watched! Etho got really lost trying to find the exit

Mechanical thing to mention: Whenever you see a +{icon} thing on a card, what that does is add points to one of four queues. Periodically, it checks if the Frost Ember or Treasure queues have anything in them, and if they do, it dispenses those things randomly into the dungeon, and plays a sound near where that happens. Treasure gets a ding, frost embers get a toot. In order to bring them out of the dungeon, you have to collect those drops within the dungeon, collect your compass loot, and then get out. Even getting +10 Frost Embers means nothing if you don't find them in the dungeon. Treasure will drop naturally in addition to via the treasure queue. Clank is generated by setting off shriekers, or by picking up the dungeon item. If you have stealth queued, it will block clank. Hazard is a separate system that makes doors close and traps activate. It just goes up over time. Having hazard block will block it as it happens. I hope that helps!

The voice saying "take your items or I'll feed them to the ravager" is because you left your pickaxe and carrots in the chest. Also the point of the dungeon reset cooldown is to make sure all the items despawn from the previous run so there was no chance of getting your items back.

As for your *ahem* ice death, if you can't laugh about that with friends over a beverage then you haven't watched it enough times. It's priceless. A bit of unsolicited advice (this is a YT comment after all): when you are young everything feels unknown, then things feel frustrating as you try to learn, then you get the satisfaction of mastery. DO2 is the same way. Take advantage of the opportunity to truly feel young again. At our age, those moments are precious. And after as many years as you have played Minecraft, they must be hard to come by in a game you have played so much. Looking forward to seeing your skill and strategy evolve and your future runs. There was no chance your items would have still been there after your second death. The reset time is specifically to let any items in the dungeon (artifacts/treasure etc. dropped upon death, treasure left behind by victors) despawn. Also, 17:10, while you might be able to work through hammering, please do not try to work through hemorrhaging. That might not end well.
