I’ve never felt the need to ask such a question. Typically, you get all these answers organically over about 3 to 4 dates if you’re asking the right questions. A woman can be proud of what she’s accomplished, but if she brings it up too much then I know we have a problem. It’s all about shaping the experience in a natural way to get the answers you want lol. Nobody wants to feel like they’re being interrogated 🤷🏾‍♂️.

The table conversation people understand is about the wholelistic picture of the relationship. It is a mutual and intuitive point in a relationship , an emotional and practical management of how to move forward. I like that 'do not use your accomplishments as a way' to gauge or try to elevate your sense of accomplishment or boost your ego. That brings up boundaries especially in the 'table' conversation.

The table question comes off as rather rhetorical to me. Most people don’t want to know, they just use this as a “gotcha” type of question. Because even if a man is a provider and protector and the woman can cook and nurture etc, there have been plenty of times where it’s been stated to the opposite gender “well I can do that for myself, what else can you do?!” The only thing that anyone can truly bring to your table is the things that you require and all of the tables have different requirements. And this question is often brought up because we’ve used the execution of our gender roles as a means to harm or belittle one another.

Could fix the question easily enough, and have it apply to both genders. "What do you bring into the relationship as a person that helps me in our life journey together?" What should be offered up is your qualities, not your accolades. Integrity, commitment, a good working ethic, whether you want kids, want a house, how you handle stress, can you live on a budget. Are you capable of sacrificing your short term for the long term? Are you able to use introspection to grow from your mistakes? Are you able to help your spouse become a better person without the need to put them down during the process?

When someone asks you what you bring to the table, its red flag and a dumb question. it means they are looking for a shortcut and dont want to do the work of getting to know you. When you are dating and pursuing a person its your job to observe, asserss, and take account of a person's qualities and decide if you want to move forward. You determine if thier personality and values line up with yours and they do the same, if its a no go, for you, move on. With that said, your accomplishments are an accurate image of what kind of person you are and what you have been doing with your life, what you value, your work ethic, whether or not you are competitive, and whether you have the ability to stick it out. Its a good gauge to know who is a non starter. Sorry but if you have been on this earth for 25 plus years you need to have something to show for.it.

If they did that it would only be about 5 people in the audience. You supposed to love people and use things but we love things and use people and thats why all this nonsense persists. No one wants to be someone's slave to the other persons shallow self centered list. Love is not what you get but what you give. Love is patient ..gentle..kind...doesn't think of itself...doesn't boast...love doesn't hold grudges and reminds people of their shortcomings....These people aren't looking for love. They looking for a viable option to enslave to their list of demands. You don't give ultimatums to your friends...you respect them for who they are and allow them to be who they are ..Or they will choose to not be your friend. Relationships are not working out cause by definition it's not a relationship they want it a DICTATORSHIP they want. No sane person is signing up for that. If we don't get back to love expect the carousel of victims who become perpetrators and perpetrators who become victims to continue.

You might have made one true statement in all that rambling and that is that a true friend should be able to tell you when you're wrong and that's what this lady did, she called out the total BS that was said in the earlier part of this segment. If you ever have (or had) an internal conversation with yourself about what attributes you have, this question really shouldn't pose a problem or trigger you...granted, some men may not be interested in some of those attributes, but at least you've shown you've given it some thought...and that's at least a realistic starting point. BS answers like "I bring everything" or "I am the table" are just cop outs for shallow and/or deflective thinkers. Imagine going to a job interview and when asked what you bring to the position, answering, "I am the position."🤯 That'll never happen! Also, do women not have male friends to have related conversations about this?

The people who get the most triggered when asked, “What do you bring to the table?” Are the ones who have a problem answering the question. People never take account of themselves, or consider how they can benefit another person’s life by being in it. They have more of a selfish attitude about how that other person can benefit them. If a man asks a woman who he’s considering to be his mate, “What do you bring to the table?” If her answer is, “I AM the table!” Unless she’s ok with paying all the bills, she’s not ready for a serious relationship. That should be an easy question to answer, because we all know ourselves pretty well, and know what we have to offer a potential mate.
