Same I honestly don’t mind the side tangents. Even when Alex goes off talking about KZbin equipment. 🤣

If you read the D-D refractometer leaflet it's a very interesting read. Basically it's the device that is temperature sensitive and not the water (it's such a small amount that it comes within temp very quickly). So when you calibrate with RO water the device needs to be 25c (or maybe 20c, I can't remember) to get an accurate calibration. My room temp must fluctuate a bit because I found I got different salinity readings every week calibrating with RO and distilled water. Once I switched to a calibration solution my salinity stayed the same each week. I realised it wasn't my salinity that was fluctuating but the refractometer calibrating inaccurately when using ro.

The quality of your setup was quite noticeable when you switched to your phone: d I had a problem with tungsten on tunze flow rotor magnets. Not the holding magnets.

Had contamination in the past with magnets and on Icp showed high levels of zinc and tin , used detox from triton and worked fine

I've been having elevated levels of zinc lately, replaced every single piece of equipment, well return pump, wavemakers, pumps for skimmer and media reactor, even my fans and heater, alongside the blades on my magnet scraper . Not done anything to my roller mat though or lights though but can't seem to get rid of it! Lost loads of my coral sadly.

Hardly anyone acknowledges that much of the food we put inside our aquariums [and in our bodies too], particularly raw seafood, is often loaded with heavy metals, microplastics, and even other contaminants like pharmaceuticals that are discarded into the ocean. In my view; the only viable solution is to switch to land-based food sources instead of relying on materials harvested from seas or rivers. - Ramón

When you say "dwarf puffer fish" which species are you referring to? I've kept many freshwater puffer species (including the true dwarf puffer, the smallest puffer in the world) and I'd love to add a puffer to one of my marine tanks but most of the salty puffers I've been able to find get HUGE so wouldn't be suitable for me unfortunately

What almost no one considers is that a lot of food, especially raw seafood that we put in our aquariums [and in our bodies too], contains high levels of heavy metals, microplastics, and even other chemicals [ike medications] that end up being dumped into the ocean. In my opinion; the only solution is to rely on land-based food sources instead of raw materials from seas or rivers. - Ramón

I doubt the food we put in our tank actually comes from the sea though.... its all farmed.
