Thanks for watching :) (P.S: The CPU clock listed on screen was an AVG clock, but it being so dramatically low (along with the temps) clued me into the thermal throttling. Even though he technically didn't hit the number from techpower up in the avg clocks, there was likely a core boosting to that frequency. Pretty normal behavior once temps calmed down.)

As a laptop player for 5 years playing just Tarkov. I highly recommend a cooling stand that has 4 fans. Never have had overheating issues.

I bought this thing my laptop sits on with 6 fans blowing up into it. Plugs in by USB and its helped my laptop stay way cooler. I really need to watch the vod to see what you guys did for his temps! Did you do this on stream?

No, this was one that I recorded separately. For the temps (for now) i simply reduced the max power the CPU could draw at any given time and then had him reduce his GPU usage to keep that power draw lower as well. Pretty simplistic but it can vary from build to build which is why I didn't show a whole guide thing- don't want people limiting too much.

All good. Been doing the research on it myself and experimenting. One thing I changed is forcing my fans to run at full speed at all times and it's helping out. Limiting my CPU for me personally did not help though. But changing the power plan back to balanced did

Gaming Laptop run always with high temp I have a Msi Gl 66 pulse with 12700h and rtx3070 and run Tarkov with 90/100 fps medium text in 2k res. I upgraded ram to 64gb and got a cooler with 5 vents under it. If he has 97°c is better to repaste with Honeywell ptm7950 thermal pad and upgrade the ram cause 16gb for tarkov are not enough.

I used to have a ASUS TUF A15 with a Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 had exactly the same issues. I couldn't play tarkov if i had any sort of heating appliances running and in the summer it was good because i could run the AC.

I have moments where I wonder why laptop is slow but then i remember, it has a turbo fan button, regardless of GPU utilization or heat levels it never turns it on by itself. Even if my GPU is relatively cool(70-80c when I play on my bed) turning on the fans drops it down to about 58c over time but it immediately gives an FPS boost which makes me think it limits its own performance which is pretty damn annoying. It's annoying because I use open back headphones and this might be a shock but it's hard to hear footsteps when you have a small jet taking off 20 inches from you. I'd really like you to try testing graphics setting with SPT. I use SAIN plus a other AI mods like Looting bots, Donuts, and questing bots and only get 45-55 frames on streets. It's not unplayable but when the AI engages in combat with each other on the map there can be huge frame drops down to the single digits. Self hosting is more resource intensive(I assume) and I'd really love a video on anything I could do to boost performance!

You say you changed 'SPT' to 30W instead of 35W. I can't find what SPT means or where these settings are located, could you generally describe what that means? Also having issues with laptop throttling, and due to Intel undervolting is impossible on my CPU (as far as I am aware, have tried so many times). Have kinda gotten a workaround by setting 'Maximum processor frequency' lower to about 3000 - 3300 mhz in advanced power plan settings (which took a bit of black magic fuckery to even enable in the first place) which helps reduce power and thermals, but over time the thermals creep back up to throttling range anyway, so it just seems like a time-buffer rather than a solution.

SHIT, I meant SPL (Suspended Power Limit, I believe). I was thinking of SPT at the time and mixed up the two 🤦‍♂ It basically controls the maximum power draw during a shorter duration (equivalent to Intel's PL1). I limited his power instead of the clock speeds in an attempt to hopefully have less of a performance impact. The other part I did (reducing GPU usage) may help if your GPU is sort of "soaking up" the cooling too, as I showed in the video as well. Sorry for the mistake!

@@SanShiney Intel might label it PL1 (short term power limit) and PL2 (long-term power limit). I know that's how they do it on desktop CPUs, at least.
