The easiest way to tell if its themed Windows 10 or real Windows 7, is that DWM Blur Glass doesn't get the window animation right. It's transparent without glass while its animating, and then the glass comes in right after.

The problem with ribbon not dark themed is due to how Microsoft made it. All resources are not in the msstyles, but in the ribbon's DLLs themselves, so hot-swappable themes on the ribbon is very hard, if not impossible.

@@Endermanch No, you can't run code on a theme change, but instead you can hook the API that the ribbon uses to load resources, and redirect them to another DLL depending on the theme applied. Actually, that's something I could add to Revert8Plus v4, once I've finished the dark theme.

You are forgetting the security aspect of things. Windows Firewall alone is not enough to completely protect you from any and all dangers, unlike what some others might tell you. It does a great job at it, sure, but won't patch massive security problems of an outdated OS, including plenty of exploits.

Actually gave this a try, expecting an awful transformation pack, results, it is indeed wonderful, having no issues at all, the entire UI (Aero) looks a blast, has no slowdowns or lags or flickers, looks like a genuine Windows 7, you can also adjust its color in the personalization panel just like W7, the sound effects are also included! It was not mentioned I think, but even the MENUs of every app looks exactly like that on Windows 7. I am just loving this so very much, you all have no idea. I wish it worked with W11 though, for more modern features!

First 2 you shown on the vid were obvious to me as Windows 7 because of the HomeGroup shortcut. (always wanted to remove it in Win 7 so it stuck with me) It also had Recent Places and no OneDrive. If the full Control Panel was shown on the poll it could have made a difference in the voting since some applets don't exist in Windows 10 anymore. The Control Panel was also a giveaway on the Windows 10 one for not having applets like Location and Other Sensors, Mail, Notification Area Icons, Taskbar and Start Menu, Windows Mobility Center (not all versions had this and it was gone on Windows 10), and Windows Defender. A few oddities with the Windows 10 w/Transformation Pack's Control Panel: - Windows Defender is weirdly one the transformation pack didn't make a shortcut for on the Control Panel (as shown on 6:56) despite still existing on Windows 10 - The "Start menu" and "Taskbar and Navigation" I don't know why there's 2 applets on the Control Panel with the 'Taskbar and Start Menu' icon - "Security and Maintenance" could have been renamed to 'Action Center' like its Windows 7 counterpart - Similarly "File Explorer Options" could have been renamed to 'Folder Options' like in Windows 7 - File History, Text to Speech, and the Work Folders entries weren't in Windows 7 and could have had an option to be hidden Looks like they did some swaps (and additions) of the executables for older ones to get the appearance of the older versions of stuff like Notepad and Task Manager. I've tried doing that myself before, but things can look out of place or in the worst case make the system unstable. As a whole (without looking too much into the small details) the transformation pack you shown will probably fool most people that it was Windows 7. If the transformation was done between Windows 8/8.1 to 7 there would have been less signs (or none just looking the same as Windows 7) that something was off since there wasn't as much changed compared to the jump to Windows 10.

I like Aero, but I prefer the Taskbar and Start Orb of the Vista version of Aero so I did some modding and transformation pack experiments back in the day. But LOL with stuff breaking with updates which led me to learn how to reinstall Windows and how to use System Restore with mixed results. I just use Windows 7 in a VM for older software now and since updates have long ended I did some mods to make it looks more like Vista for fun since programs aren't as likely to break it unlike Windows Updates fixing DLLs and EXEs that were modified.
