Hi, I'm Ashni!! I've been on #Twitch since 2013 and because of my amazing friends, I went full-time in 2015. I was terrible at it. And one day my sponsor called me on Skype and said: "There will be a lot of people who make it on Twitch, but it will never be you." So I stopped and learned as much as I could. Now I make content to help other streamers pursue their dreams and learn to stream, because he was right. There will be a lot of people who make it. And I'm going to help them.
I am now a professional #StreamCoach, full-time content creator, and Twitch Partner. The #YamFam is our community of streamers who are linking arms to take over the world. 😈 I also love business, travel, plants, and puppies.

also I should say this video is NOT a dig on Harris. I do think the move to KZbin was the best move for his specific business model. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't also considering the switch for mine as well.

I’m a music streamer and I was pretty annoyed to get an email from twitch saying I can’t keep my VODS with cover songs in them. At this point streaming and community is the ONLY thing it has going for it.

I think Twitch will suffer for it being only a streaming site. KZbin for example has a baked in long term audience, with the live stream audience as an option. Twitch also has terrible monetization and brand development options, with an awful advertising platform. Twitch has to make changes in the future or it will definitely suffer. Hell, right now Facebook sounds like a better option.

Twitch as a platform may not die, but if you look at co-current viewers today on almost any channel compared to 12 months ago 98% of streamers have no growth, and many are seeing a decline on Twitch, followers is not measurement of growth although many streamers don't understand that. Twitch is a niche platform now more than ever, as they just are not making the right moves to grow the platform, streamers big and small are looking for other options.

If KZbin had the EXACT same features as Twitch, I would bail on Twitch in a heartbeat for ONE REASON! Not ONCE has anyone on KZbin whispered me nor asked in my chat about if I have an Only Fans. I am SO over this because of the soup bowl meta on Twitch! I am treated with more respect on KZbin than I am on Twitch, and for this reason alone KZbin is superior.

Unfortunately the culture on Twitch is leaning more and more toward sexualized content, despite them supposedly being against it. I don't have anything against people who make their money how they want to (assuming it isn't something illegal), but I can totally understand why so many female streamers are getting really uncomfortable with the atmosphere over there.
@PyrettaBlaze
@PyrettaBlaze 3 жыл бұрын
It has gotten a bit ridiculous. They won’t even follow on Twitch, they just demanded the soup bowl horse play “ASMR” (what an insult to actual ASMRtists) or they demand Only Fans. Fortunately, I take time away with my daughter in the summer. The break is nice, but I worry about what weird hornets nest of creep I will walk back into with my VERY small stream. I can only imagine how much worse it must be for bigger female streamers like Ashni or Zedra. I hope Twitch will do something about it soon because this is hurting more than female streamers. It is predatory to young men, it is grooming, and those things have no place in our community. Not to mention that if advertisers pull out that then impacts the viewers when streamers go stream somewhere else.

I do like Twitch but if KZbin had the same features as Twitch I would probably stream on KZbin. Most of my content is turned into KZbin videos anyways. I love the community on Twitch including all of the personalized emotes, the channel point redemptions including sound alerts, and being able to send your chat over to another stream with a few clicks makes that community feel more connected

I've been on youtube since 2010. In that timeframe, I lost monetization to my channel, got ads re-added to my channel, but now youtube is keeping 100% of revenue. I have never been able to grow a community on youtube. I only met 1 good friend through youtube, but he was a twitch streamer and now we co-stream on twitch weekly. In 3 months of streaming on twitch, I met so many cool people who I really enjoy hanging out with. If I had a choice, I'd stay on twitch... I tried multistreaming before I got affiliate, but I only found a sense of belonging on twitch...

I like most your content however, saying community is the thing Twitch has that others don't is weak counter point. Community can happen anywhere, the thing that is missing is someone willing to make that a reality. In fact with some of the stuff on KZbin that Twitch doesn't have could make a community stronger on KZbin. I stream on both platforms and we really got to stop putting Twitch on a pedestal. In fact if I knew what I know now when I started streaming, I would have started making content on YT first before I went to Twitch.
@JohnPhoelix
@JohnPhoelix 3 жыл бұрын
I think the point here is that while communities can grow anywhere, it HAS grown already on twitch. Which in business terms means Twitch has an extremely loyal and active group of consumers. And consumers who aren't just invested in the creators but also the platform they're on. I think your point is important looking ahead. What happens if other sites manage to compete with twitch in that regard? What is Twitch doing now that makes sure that people who enters the streaming space in the coming 5-10 years feels like Twitch still is the place to go. It's also dangerous to just lean on the fact that the community will keep being there.
@ZacR4k
@ZacR4k 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnPhoelix very elegantly put I can agree with that however, I am starting to see those communities on KZbin. Live streaming on KZbin is unique experience. There are lots of very loyal and very active communities on here. They are all centered around the streamer and the games. This isn't something that happens over night on KZbin. It actually takes a Lil for it to start to build up and it depends on the games as well. Taking a look at what is the most popular on here apposed to Twitch is very eye opening.

If twitch die there are another streaming platforms out there. I don't think is going anywhere soon due to Amazon Parthership and community as well. Yes the platform is changing indeed but what is another alternatives like Mixer (RIP).

I love Twitch and what you say makes a lot of sense. I wonder what you think if we talk more long term though? I think there's an interesting comparison between Twitch vs KZbin and Steam vs Epic Game Store. Twitch and Steam are both leading in their field now. But Epic and KZbin have enormous user bases. Epic have Fortnite players who have never bought games before because they're very young and only play Fortnite atm. But when they grow up and get their own monwy to spend on gamss, Epic Game Store will probably feel more like home to them than Steam. Similarly a huge portion of the user base on KZbin might start streaming in 5 to 10 years from now. KZbin also has financial muscle to make moves to really take their place in the streaming space like Epic has with their store. If KZbin really start forcing their way in, what do you think streaming will look like 10 years from now?

I don't think Twitch will die, but I think it's time that they evolved. They need much better discoverability, they need to handle the DMCA stuff better and they really need to work on the "community" space they're going for. Even with the new hateful conduct ToS measures there are still so many toxic people on the platform, including active partners! I don't want Twitch to die out, but I want them to be a platform I'm proud to say I'm part of and of late I've been losing the ability to be proud of the steps they're taking.

A lot of people discount Twitch's ownership and involvement in Amazon's plans. Twitch is integrated into Amazon Prime, Prime Video, Luna and will likely play a part in the future of Amazon Game Studios as well. It's not going to die.
@MayorReynoldsTV
@MayorReynoldsTV 3 жыл бұрын
@Joe R For a while MS was like that but I don't think they are now. Xbox and Game Pass are really starting to excel. Also, Prime Video has been growing in quality and Amazon has invested in it. I 100% agree that Amazon can do better with Twitch and its also true that no king rules forever but I don't think that Twitch is going anywhere, any time soon.

If every platform had the same feature set (which kinda reminds me of the chinese streaming market since Huya/Douyu/Bilibili have a fairly similar feature set to each other) it wouldn't be such a big change most likely. Only some changes in market share. Since that will never be the case since KZbin doesn't focus livestreaming too much since it launched a dedicated part of the site in 2015 it's unlikely to ever be the case. Feature parity won't ever be a thing (Especially with features like Watch Parties, Versus by Twitch etc. Personally cannot believe that KZbin would touch that) Twitch will be here in 2 years and it's quite likely that it still is the number 1 platform for streaming. Same as it was in 2017, 2019 and 2021.

If KZbin had the same features as Twitch I'd probably leave I don't have the biggest community on Twitch and it'd be easier to build it back on KZbin. KZbin streaming is less than desirable though so I don't see KZbin killing Twitch. So many people are locked into Twitch and have a colt type loyalty so Twitch isn't going anywhere for years

There's community on KZbin, and it's hard to build one on both sites. I think YT isn't stupid saying you must stream on YT, though would they say no uploading to Twitch if Twitch kept that feature up? Seems more like a test and Twitch Decided no way though it's a way to expand the community. Seems once every couple of years people think YT is going to die because of a new rule or contracts; which I feel like is what brought this up seeing as you were told no streaming on YT a few days ago. Which that...good & bad. YT is compitition so of course Twitch hate the idea, but how many times do the experts say don't put your eggs in one basket? Even if someone still focused more on Twitch and streamed once a week or even month in YT; shouldn't Twitch support that as growing? But then back to how you're using a competitor of Twitch... endless circle.
