So udemy is great for me as a user because it offers me the courses for little money and keep the sellers greedy away.!!!

You have just one course? That's it? Dude! You need to have dozens of courses on Udemy if you want to make anything! Jeez, you're judging them from the one course you have? That's like judging a woman based on her looks only! So lame!

Isn't it a good idea to start with udemy and build personal brand by selling affordable courses and then put it in portfolio of your experience,because i think that if you tell someone that you have 2000 students on udemy, then the person would not take a second to buy courses at high prices,just in your case,,If you tell someone that you have hundreds of students that you teach and thousands of udemy student and you have a book and a youtube channel with 16000 subscribers then i think you can sell a 50 dollar worth of course at 1000 dollar because people knows Till boadella is an Expert and his courses will definetly be useful........

Hi Shabib, it doesn't work like that. Nobody cares how many Udemy students you have and it doesn't mean they pay you more. People will be willing to pay you $1,000 if you actually put in a tremendous amount of work to build a personal brand and position yourself as an expert. But being on Udemy doesn't exactly position you as an expert, anyone can do it, if anything it will lower your value in people's eyes. That's just my five cents.

Udemy originated from the Open University concept - to provide free and open courses to masses of people. The profit concept threatens Udemy if it focuses on money-making and not on providing opportunities to HELP people achieve in life. Educators are in the people business - not platforms, high volume sales, or shrewd marketing for the purpose of making BIG BUCKS!

I totally agree. Free and discounted crowd lol. Udemy's marketing always seemed weird to me. And yes, there are some high earners on Udemy, but they usually do technical courses (like programmimg etc.). Although many of them move to their own platform eventually. While Udemy may be good for a beginner (small course to get feedback etc), I would recommend Clickbank or JVzoo. More control and more profit.

There are many ways to teach a subject! Everybody has a different way of learning! Be different that people might be looking for! Specialize is something that's in demand and be good at it! You'll fill a nitch that someone might be willing to pay top dollar for! I think this guy is very narrow minded! I see opportunities here!

Udemy is racing to the bottom. I have a course on Udemy that I sell for $60. They put on a sale for $15 and an affiliate takes a cut. I make $3 a student. Horrible. Creating my own site now.

Udemy is definitively racing to the bottom. I'd get off there as fast as possible :)

I'm looking to build fast passive income selling online courses. Is Udemy a better option short term and building your own brand and selling to them better long term (once I have improved my course creation skills) or should I try to launch my first online course with no following and sell via Facebook ads and clickfunnels?
@TillBoadella7 жыл бұрын
If you have no experience and want to start earning some passive income, I think Udemy is not bad. If you want to build a big online publishing business and have more control, I think later on you should move away from Udemy.
@bornanoledieanole7 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I was thinking. My plan was to do both at the same time and move away from Udemy. Thanks for your input!
