I think if Udemy puts some courses at $15 this "lowers the quality" of a course, it was if they didn't valued the content of that course.

Disgraceful platform was considering it but won’t bother as it seems they win and everyone else loses

Hi, I have written several courses on esotericism, self-help, and hermeticism, and I was considering selling them on Udemy. But I see that there are many courses at $15, it is Udemy who puts these promotional prices? I guess if I put my courses at $45, Udemy can lower the prices to $15 by itself? So if I earn revenue from a $15 course is not that much, I think only will profit if I get hundreds of students? Please let me know.

So, if somebody goes onto udemy, and searches for let's say javascript, and you have a javascript course that they buy from searching for it, you'll still only make 37% of the sale?

But why is Udemy taking most of the profit from creators?
@MathewAlexanderYT2 жыл бұрын
I would love to know!

Because they're marketing your course. Essentially, for organic customer, share is 50:50, but for udemy promotions, it's 70:30 where udemy takes 70% that too by selling at cheap price. On the other hand if instructor referal purchases a course, instructor gets 97% of revenue and udemy gets 3%. So trick to increase revenue is to add more instructor referral link enrollments which kicks in udemy promotions to increase sales as they're getting less commissions. My learning from past 5 years selling on Udemy. Like it or not they do have big audience so it's difficult to ignore 😊

What do you mean?? So if I market my course for 15dollars i'll only earn 3dollars?
@MathewAlexanderYT Жыл бұрын
Sadly so. If it's set at a price of $100, you still only get $3 ish on average.

Great video with detailed analysis. But just wanted to point out that the map of India used in this video is inaccurate, why are the north-eastern states un-highlighted?

I'll look into it. I largely focus on organic results, but I should probably investigate promotions.

Instructor needs to try getting more Referral link enrollments, it kicks in udemy promotions on that course to increase revenue

@@MathewAlexanderYT I'm not sure it isn't for most people. I think if there had been a disturning loss of income instructors would be flagging in on the forum. SkillShare instructor groups are going mental on that front.

I've have people say and write that their earnings are dropping on Udemy. Perhaps it's just some people who are affected and that a shift in global market share could be the reasons. It might be specific topics which it occurs in more than others. Who knows.

Can I sell same course at both platforms udemy and skillshare?
@MathewAlexanderYT2 жыл бұрын
You can. There are a few things you'll need to be wary of, including not being included in Udemy for business, making sure your topic is accepted on both platforms and not have logo intros in Skillshare. I hate to sound spammy and desperate for views (which I'm not :p) but I talk more about the guidance to uploading to both platforms in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nH_bgKSorNZ6m7s Good Luck!

My earning are going down and I'm also getting a lot of student fraud. Students buying a course and then refunding. I had a student buy a new course from me 5 days in a row and then refund each time.
@MathewAlexanderYT2 жыл бұрын
@@NettechZelkova sorry to hear it - both issues! I don't think I've had any student fraud so far, bit I haven't really looked. Sadly I think a lot of these courses are ripped from course platforms and distributed for free.

You would have been better off offering these courses on KZbin. You would have earned a decent income. Why operate on a platform that 'grabs you by the throat'? You can earn a decent stable, income with a website. You can choose from Adsense, and Amazon affiliate program and embed Your Channel KZbin videos and earn from all three, The best part is the property is yours. Why waste time and energy on platforms like Udemy and Skillshare? At least on KZbin, you can earn from videos with TTS voices, eliminating all the hassle of recording and editing audio.

You cant host a course inside youtube. Udemy is a course platform
