Keep in mind that he can't hear differences in cables. I couldn't hear differences as a teenager, since I didn't have a clue. Not a clue as to what things to listen for, not knowing anything of proper scientific method, etc. I don't think I'd go by what he says. He is the middle ground between humor and analysis. But not really solidly either one. I watch for the entertainment. I didn't say he wasn't funny sometimes

In all fairnes though, combining audio (VERY SERIOUS to many), with humor, which is not serious, is very difficult. Except to people like me. IN FACT I know of only TWO PEOPLE who have pulled this off, judging by the view numbers. 1. Randy from The Audio Cheapskate. And another guy who I don't see on anymore. 2. Bithead 1000. Does anyone remember him? He would often start the video episoodes by saying he had a rough day, and then he would pour some Jack Daniels into a big cup, which he would drink throughout the video. He didn't care about swearing or who he offended or anything. I was just watching his old video on finally getting his uncle's old JBL 100 speakers. Just hilarious. " Some audiophile purists say JBL 100's are harsh to your ears" he said. "Rock music is supposed to be harsh on your ears! he shoutingly defended." I could watch him all evening; and his videos were long. He always had plenty of comedy material. Enough to get well over 95k subscribers. So as for combining comedy and audio, numbers wise; only him and Randy would qualify for the KZbin Hall Of Fame.

These ultrasonic cleaners work great on my digital albums. I run my hard drives through regularly to get rid of the pops and clicks.

My ultrasonic cleaning issue was after cleaning a Pat Benatar album, Pat Benatar's fingerprint remained in the water affecting all my other albums, until I replaced the water. Perhaps the cleaner needs a beefy power cord and anti-resonant feet.
@scientificaudiophile2 ай бұрын
I forgot to mention that in the video, that I used the stock power cord. Damn! Who knows what junk could have come off those records with a decent power cord.

Another great informative "low-quality" video 😉. I'm not hijacking the topic, but this is actually relevant. I work at an industrial site, and we use ultrasonic cleaning for super nasty process equipment. In particular, this is used on heat exchanger tube bundles.

Dear S/A, You turned my reality upside down again. You fostered a think - about, I think and thoughts come about. My concern is not ultrasonic hearing but mid to mid high frequencies... Snoring: 625 to 1500hz. My wife was annoyed because I was snoring last nite and it kept her up. Why is it that I cannot hear my snoring while I sleep but she does, this is leading me down a rabbit hole to find the answer. Interesting facts: I can hear ultrasonic in my dreams but not in my waking hours and vs versa with lower frequencies. What have you done again....I will report back with my findings. 😁 Excellent Bonus content👍

En Garde S/A! I did not hear you say you used a cleaning solution with the Vevor. Also, I clean my records by hand with the aft mentioned cleaning solution before I use the Vevor where I also use 99% alcohol, photoflo, and distilled water mix. The bottom of my tank is filled with dirt and grime residue after cleaning records. I'm at 40 celsius and 8 minutes and I've loaded 6 lps at a time. And then I spray distilled water to rinse the records after. I do think less records at a time might well do a better cleaning. But I have been very happy with my results. I can usually get 60 records done in a 3 hour period if I go 6 at a time. It is quite a chore though.
@scientificaudiophile2 ай бұрын
Yes, I used my recommended solution. 60 in three hours. Lots of time cleaning - you should hire someone.

Jokes aside, you shouldn't be in the same room when using an ultra sonic cleaner, even though you cannot hear the ultra sonic frequency being produced it will poetically damage your hearing.

You need an adjustable power supply to slow the rotation down. Good cavitation can't occur at the high speed that motor rotates.

I am very sceptical about 3:10 Caviations altering grooves is unlikely at best. Cavitations copying a grove and imprinting it on another record? I am no scientist and maybe Im wrong but it sounds unlikely. Seems more likely that you hfard ne was stuff because much was cleaned out and record lost static

Cleaning records manually, removing most if not all of the dirt then putting them into the ultrasonic and just making a visual inspection of the solution doesn't seem like a very "scientific" comparison. On a side note, how does one avoid the smearing of the plain sides of the water tank sounds onto the records?
@scientificaudiophileАй бұрын
Can’t be done. Smearing occurs regardless of what you do.
