The biggest problem I have with Uniqlo is their sizing is outrageously variable. Without changing my own dimensions in a one year period I have found clothes there that fit me ranging from XS to Large. Its not so problematic when shopping in their stores, but its impossible to know what size to order on new items and most importantly, they charge you for shipping on returns.
@mizoboe6193 Жыл бұрын
yep. someone who gets it. i like my uniqlo pieces but its always a struggle to buy their pieces, especially online. I outgrew a small now, so I dont wear their smalls anymore, but even picking between medium to large can be troubling. I often resort to their tshirts now, because if I have a Tshirt in a large, it just comes off as a baggy Tee. Their hoodies i absolutely avoid, cuz even tho Im an average medium to large, their hoodie sizings are way too tight: but then an XL fits too giant on me
@LimitedWard10 ай бұрын
And then to add insult to injury, you can only return items to the same store you bought them from, and online orders must be returned by mail (no in-store returns).
@supermitendo96545 ай бұрын
Since the fashion trend is moving towards a relaxed fit, more items in Uniqlo's line are also becoming more relaxed compared to years ago. I don't think it's really their fault because they're just following the market. They usually have a description somewhere in the item page about how the clothing is supposed to fit you. For me, it's always M top and S bottom no matter the type of clothing and the always fit me. My brother who doesn't wear oversized items always choose a size smaller if an item is oversized/relaxed fit.

I can sense their change recently, although personally Uniqlo is still very much my go-to for basics. But their supima tees increased in price and some of their product lineups changed. For instance, their soft touch long sleeve t shirts now has sweatshirt style wrist when they have actual sweatshirts and sweater lineup, which wasn't the case back then so it is somewhat redundant. And the pocket oversized tee lost the different front-back length, small detail which I liked. Also for some reason they don't promote Airism as much anymore. Good thing is that U Tees, my absolute favorite are still perfect. Well, maybe other than for the white color not being actual white.

I actually only discovered Uniqlo two years ago from a student and started buying cheaper but super functional clothing basics like the heattech thermal base layer to go with my higher-end pieces. Uniqlo cannot compete with higher-end stores on the dress clothing side. It's true that a lot of their clothes are rough and I even started bleeding from rubbing their heattech waistband on my skin while layering something tight and a heavy purse on top of it. Agree that the roughness can irritate the skin. but I didn't return the tights because the inside is super soft and keeps warm. There's no branding on the tights so I can use it for a large range of clothing. the rough waistband became softer with wash and wear. I complained to Uniqlo about the roughness caused bleeding and they came up with a much softer version this year.

The newer version of the extra warm heattech also has a less refined finishing around the neckline and a rougher texture on the inside.

Had a few thoughts on this Harry. There's a massive drive towards reducing cotton production due to its effects on the climate. So many places are recycling. Also with historical prices. We can't expect them to stay that cheap forever especially with inflation and people being paid a fair wage to work for a clothing company. But even in terms of business strategy if you start off cheap once you've got people through the door you put prices up. So all in all I feel there are reasonable factors for the difference in product but I can appreciate why people might sway if a product isn't what it was. If uniqlo isn't as good for basics which one is?
@HarryHas2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think recycling is a factor here. I also don’t think that recycling means a poorer finish on products. I have plenty of pieces made from recycled materials and they are great. I get they need to put prices up but they could keep their products to the same standards they were before. If they are selling poorer quality pieces for higher prices, it’s not going to make me want to buy them. I agree prices can’t stay the same forever and I expect them to go up but at least keep the product to a decent standard

And when asked about the quality of of Uniqlo’s collabs you just dismiss all of them when every renowned fashion critic has been going on about what incredible value for money each collab is. I’m not defending Uniqlo at all costs I’m just underlining the holes in your arguments and the fact that your opinion only rely on very narrow-minded tastes that shouldn’t be shared as something of value for others.

@@xenofyl1 This whole channel is based on my opinion. My opinion on what's stylish or good quality isn't always going to line up with everyone else's. We all have our own tastes and preferences, but I am sharing mine. As I mention in the video, these are the items I bought from them on the regular. I still own and wear my old pieces but they have been washed hundreds of times, so all I can go on is the memory of how they were when brand new. It would be unfair to compare a t-shirt that has been through the wash hundreds of times with something brand new. The fashion critics you are talking about are giving their opinion on why they think it's incredible value for money. Everything anyone says is all based on their opinion and what they deem as being good quality or what's stylish to them. You can choose to take or leave their opinion, but if it works for you and you like the clothing, then what anyone else says should make no difference. I haven't liked the look of anything from the recent collab drops, so I didn't buy anything from them. Sadly the quality of most clothing has gone down for no reason, things are getting more expensive so bring the quality with you..

Calvin klein to me is the best for affordable basics. Tommy hilfiger too, depends what style do you prefer. Th is more 90s indpired while ck is a mire modern take on it.

To be fair tshirts look great on u. Uniqlo U oversize ones are definitely the best on the market for the price. Still a fan of their pieces.

In my country Uniqlo seems to be a bit of a “luxury brand” since it seems to be a bit expensive for the common person so the majority just purchase non branded clothes online

I haven't bought anything bfrom uniqlo in more than 5 years, I have most of all basic from early uniqlo that I still wear... The quality is drop massively, i agree with you about the waffle shirt i have the short sleeves black and army long sleeves from their early collection and the quality is better but the fit is to big...even their discounts not worth the price 😆

Harry, I dont really think that Supima cotton t-shirt's cost was ever 5 pounds. Could you possibly confused it with Dry crew neck t-shirt which is 8 pounds now?
@HarryHas2 жыл бұрын
Could be. This was about 8 or 9 years ago so could be getting confused. Either way, it’s too expensive for what it is

I was a bit put off when I ordered a Uniqlo U T-shirt to replace the one I already had and it ended up fitting completely different.

The Airism U oversized shirt is still by far my favorite shirt but with sweatshirts or hoodies and the likes i feel like they're not worth the money. H&Ms basic hoodie is great and cost literally half as much.

Hey Harry, great video. I was wondering if their jackets worth the price for the quality and fit, specially the new MA-1 Blouson. Could you make a video about it in the future?

Long time no hear, sorry for that mate. Was surprised but actually as well had some issues with Uniqlo recently. Bought an Iron free shirt which directly ripped. where I still like the Oxford shirts The dress shirts are not for me anymore. Love still the sweaters especially as not as thick. So that’s fine for me. Enjoy your Sunday, cheers 🙏🏻

Were the supima ones really ever 6 bucks? For as long as I can remember they had the cheaper cotton tees for 5,99 and then the supima cotton ones for 14,99
@HarryHas2 жыл бұрын
I may have got that wrong but it was cheaper for sure. They were £9.90 not so long ago

@@HarryHas ye you could be right on the price being lower for those supima ones I still have a supima one that I love tbh but I doubt its from their latest batch Im going to a Uniqlo store soon so might to do a thorough check on their stuff

In my opinion if you're looking for affordable basics and you might ignore a little bit of the quality, Lefties would be a good choice! (If it's available on your country).

I remember when I made my first and only order from them. A whole bunch of fashion KZbinrs went on and on about how great they were so I ordered two shirts and they came in smelling horrible like mildew/ mold. I never ordered anything again after that. Nothing that’s brand new should smell like that

@@sashabelkov916 unfortunately I don’t have a lot of extra income. So when I make a purchase even if it’s on the lower end/ affordable things. I expect it to have some sort of quality and cleanliness to it. I don’t think I’ll purchase from them again at least not online.

It's disappointing that the t-shirts that were always super reliable and heavy have turned to a crappy, scratchy typical shrinkage nightmare that the likes of h&m and Zara sell.

@benficaM88882 жыл бұрын
I notice this. They've improved the quality for outerwear and overshirts.. overall their fit are better than years ago... People put too much emphasis in their basic t shirt (true the quality of t shirts has gone down).. but they ain't a t shirt company

Personally did not like any of the clothes you showed. Absolutely love their shorts. Super comfy with deep pockets to wear year round
@toobalkain Жыл бұрын
they seem to have leaned heavily on to synth fabrics, they don't even carry 100% wool smart trousers, which were reasonably good value. Knits are still OK, I guess, though you can get same quality cashmere for less, cotton is quite bad now and has a weird smell.
