M81 is defacto THE camouflage. Is you say to someone “camouflage” they probably think of an M81 woodland pattern

I have a couple unissued sets of woodland camo ut away for emergency wear. Very effective yet here in the PNW.

I have bought things from this company for years, and they have always been really good. ( reliable, honest, good value). I think it is a great idea that they have a KZbin channel.

Ah yes, the M81 Woodland pattern. My daily dress BDU's in late 80's Marine Corps. Still a good pattern that works well in most environments. That's why it was used for so long.

My Identical Twin Brother and Myself As Well As My Deceased Sister-in- Law ( His Wife) All Wore The Woodland M81 Camouflage Pattern Battle Dress Uniform ( BDU) As The Official Combat Utility Uniform of The US4CES Until Retired During The First Half of GWOT, Starting With The USMC Adoption of MARPAT in AD 2003.

Woodland was just coming into service when I was young. I loved it then, I wore it over many years in the military, and i love ot anywhere there is greenery.

I entered service with the US Marines in the mid-1990s. I saw the service's transition from the woodland cammies to MARPAT. I love the MARPAT uniforms more but seeing the old woodland pattern brings a lot of nostalgia for me. IMO it's unfortunate that the US military splintered off into different camouflage patterns after the woodlands.

I agree it seemed like once the Marines came out it seemed like every other Branch had to make their own tactical fashion statement with the army and air force's terrible grayish color patterns that didn't blend in at all to the l navy digital blue uniform which made it impossible for anyone to find you should you fall overboard while wearing it.

No it is the German Fjallsemjager smock that has been copied by everyone, via the Brits and their Dennison smock.

Retired? Nah, My CBRN gear is all BDU/DCU pattern and I’m in a well funded unit. I can only imagine that nasty girls are issued shit from the Korean War.

'officially' quotation marks haha - atleast in frontline battle dress uniform. Definitely - obviously a lot of money in making wet weather gear and CBRN suits. Definitely makes sense to keep them in inventory.
@Warmaker0111 ай бұрын
Yeah, MOPP suits are still old woodland. So much of that stuff probably sitting around from the Cold War days. At least from by the time I retired from the US Marines in the mid-2010s. Hell, even for the invasion of Iraq in 2003, MOPP suits were being issued in woodland pattern mostly. You saw grunts wearing woodland MOPP suits and helmets with desert covers. US woodland is so widespread that you even see insurgents have their hands on it to this day.

@@Warmaker01 still see recruits sometimes with ALICE gear too - still fantastic gear and makes sense to use it for non frontline tasks (or hopefully never used for its real CRBN tasks). Even ol Os@ma fancied a bit of Woodland!

Tiger stripe is better
@CyrusFreeman11 ай бұрын
For what? It can be, but as a general purpose camo? No, it isn't.
@regularguyprepper11 ай бұрын
For very specific environments sure, it's better. For 90% of geographic regions and environments m81 is OG. M81 WOODLAND is what you want to be wearing when you hear the boss music start.
@armyand_Outdoors11 ай бұрын
Bit of a broad stroke statement. We love Tigerstripe too, but even a woodland environment in one country is very different from another. We're fans of recommending whatever works for your environment best.
@ShrekFhiyonaАй бұрын
@@regularguyprepper m81 woodland also works in specific environment. So, it's not better than Tiger stripes camo.
