Forgot to mention the good transmog and dye systems...they are really good and give tons of customization options.

It definitely is. Actually the open world puzzles and monster hunting lends itself well to just casually running around and exploring and finding little secrets. I did not think I was going to like it as much as I did, but damn did i spend a lot of time messing around with this game.

Nice review! I'm having a ton of fun with this game. You didn't touch on the Co op, but it's well done and I think even more fun with a couple of buddies

I played in the 2023 beta during May and was sold on the game. I pre ordered the highest teer early access and when it finally arrived in the August I was like many others waiting 2+ hours to play the game because the devs probably didn't think it'd be as successful as it was. Then in the October the publishers split leaving the game to be completed by the devs alone. That slowed the progress of the development but it was still fairly multi player friendly in that the world events like the worm and pyro boss held sought after mats for upgrades and you'd see 20+ people waiting to fight them in hopes of getting the drop they needed. January rolled around and I was disappointed with some changes they added after finally doing the update that had been promised because it completely ruined the hard work I'd put into 3 of my characters who all had over 3k power (at the time that was good) Last November I was talking to a friend who'd never played it but they suggested I give it another try. When I got on and found EVERYTHING completely reset I was disappointed but I knew the game and remembered the enjoyment I got from it before. I stuck with it and now I have Niss,Lora, Venomess, Senja and Kyros at 5* as well as several weapons. It's a bit grindy when trying to get some mats because they only drop from specific lost zones. The Frostmarch lost zones on average drop around 70 spectra but I have had a few lucky runs where I got 120. The Crucible is even worse, I'm lucky to do a run of the lost zones there and get 50 spectra. That aside though I agree, Wayfinder is a great game and we'll worth playing!

Except kingdoms of amalur was never an MMO. Kingdoms of amalur was always at all times a single player game. It was supposed to be a single player game that is a prequel to project Copernicus which was going to be the MMO. So no it isn't the same because wayfinder literally was an MMO that they had to scale back after it was already out partially. Where is Amalur from beginning to end at all levels of development was always conceived to be a single player game.

I really ended up liking this game. I agree with all your problems you highlight were 500% valid, but I think this sort of game is what I want to see more of in general.

Picked this up on the steam winter sale the doing a Co-op campaign. It was playing real rough with intel GPU's used the "-DX12" start option in steam and its playing much better. In co-op so far the difficulty is a little on the easy side. I have been discovering the combo system putting chains of light and heavy attacks together. I also didn't play the early access so I don't know how the game was before, but I am liking the combat. The RNG loot has been a mixed bag some sessions I am getting weapon and armor drops like crazy then the next session just trash echoes. I'm not too far in yet so I haven't felt the grind loop yet. This is the best co-op ARPG under $25 out right now. If any knows of a better co-op ARPG that has come out in the last 3 years let me know I am always looking for a good co-op ARPG.

Same! Since then apparently they had to take major cuts to keep the studio open, but they are not giving up on this game. Then out of no where I see that the 1.0 launch had happened and the game has positive reviews on steam!

There’s a new phenomenon for me while watching KZbin that even when I select 4K or 1440p @ 60hz I will regularly get an awful, pixelated and blurry image. My service is always steady and strong but I’m no expert so maybe it’s my service somehow. Or it’s my KZbin app not allocating enough buffer or something like that. Or you KZbinrs are using some new software to edit your stuff that’s compressing it or doing something to it. KZbin says it’s not them as does my service provider and my analytics for my gear but one of them or all of them could be wrong by my understanding. It’s just your video is 1440p60 and is unwatchable like smeared paint. Many folks say “yeah me too but whaddaya gunna do?” so they just don’t care. But I do so I’m just trying to figure this stuff out and spreading the word is all I got right now.
