This is hilarious! And at the end just shows you who the master is.

My greenwing macaw naturally lifts left foot but I recently taught her to raise the other foot depending on which hand I give the sign with. It wasn't easy but she has it down now!

I think Mook(Military Macaw) is ambidextrous. Depending on which way he is facing depends on which foot he uses to step up and he has used both feet to hold toys or eat.
@TaraAndFriends Жыл бұрын
I'm ambidextrous and this sounds plausible. I can write (not as good) and even use utensils and scissors with my left hand, but I rely mostly on my right hand. I even use my left hand for baseball- because it just felt like a left handed day in highschool- and I started with my left hand. A few days later, I tried it with my right, proceeded to confuse people, and then confuse myself, so I just stuck to using my left hand lol. This sounds kinda similar, using certain "hands" for certain things and using others interchangeably. Also, my sister's ambidextrous but writes with her left hand and this seems to describe her a little as well.

Interesting! I never thought animals would have a ‘dominant hand’. I wonder if the animal world has a more common side like the human world does.

You have to give them something to eat that they can hold to determine which foot they favor. All Cockatoos are left footed. That rose breasted Cockatoo was just scratching himself, which they will do with either foot obviously.

Wait but isn't how you train them to wave with the "step up" trick? Because they wave the foot they had to wave with most?
